Corner 230

The restaurant was not crowded during lunch on a Saturday. The service was well-paced at first, then the server disappeared for awhile. The crab dip was overly cheesy and served with stale bread and stale chips. The burger was served well done and with undercooked onions instead of sauteed mushrooms. The pasta with shrimp was tasty and the portion was large; it was worth taking it home to eat later. The Irish specialty drinks were a good addition to the menu. Prices are a bit inflated for the quality of food served.

Just a little inconspicuous corner building in an old part of downtown Ottawa, Illinois yields some of the best cuisine! My wife's idea to "check out" this place called Corner 230 following some shopping in Ottawa. We planned a 4pm early dinner. Entering the restaurant, there was only one table occupied. My apprehension increased, as that would never be expected on a Saturday afternoon in Ottawa. We were greeted by a your lady server who showed us to a table in another room adjacent to the bar area. Long story short...our service and meal were both fantastic. We started off the experience with wonderfully made caprese salad. Absolutely perfect...even if the tomatoes in Illinois this time of year are usually less than ideal. I enjoyed an Italian pasta dish while my wife enjoyed one of their specialty sandwiches. And although we didn't partake, the liquor/drink selection seemed to be amazing. Don't let the lack of prominence in the community discourage you from enjoying Corner 230. Everything was wonderful. We'll make it a point to return.

Food was beyond delicious! They even stage the food to look fancy. We (group of 4) ordered the toasted raviolis. You get 6, we needed more so we put in a second order haha. Prices are reasonable. Easy place to take a group where someone may not want to spend a lot or where some may not mind how much they spend. They also have fun drinks! Great place to go after work with the girls. You do not have to dress up, but it's more classy. Definitely going back!
