China One

We have ordered numerous times, and always the vegetarian egg foo young. First time it had mushrooms as listed. Next time it had none. We called and they pleaded ignorance. Every time after we had to ask. We had company last night and the patties were burned to a crisp. Very embarrassing. Decided not to call, because we probably would have gotten the same response as before. On another note, the young lady there is very nice. The young man on the other hand, does not want to be there which is obvious by his attitude. No more china one for us!

We had a shrimp dish and a chicken and shrimp combo dish. The sauces on both were tasteless. My combo had 2 shrimp in it the rest was chicken. The shrimp in my wife’s dish was soft and mushy. No taste at all. We added lots of soy sauce. Doubt we would go back. The egg rolls were good today but We have had greasy ones before.

Very unsanitary and disgusting experience. I went to pick up my food. While packing up my food with her ungloved hands, the lady helping us wiped her nose 3 times and continued touching my food items. When I confronted her about it she denied it, said they have all been “tested” and told me not to come back. I said that’s great that you’ve been tested but you just wiped your nose bare handed while packing up my food. Pandemic or no pandemic, this is highly unsanitary. The people who regulate restaurant sanitation should be notified. I only took the food in the first place because my child who has special needs was very excited for his meal and would have had a meltdown if we didn’t have it. Once I discovered there was no silverware added to the bag, that was the last straw, I called the restaurant asked about utensils and also said I’d like a refund because the woman was wiping her nose with her bare hands while packing our food. She must not have heard me. Doesn’t matter because I asked her why she did this when I arrived and this is when she told me they were all “tested”. I made the mistake of taking the food in the first place. I should have spoken up when the food first came out. So I apologize for that. The point here is that the employee who was serving up our food was wiping her nose with her bare hands while packing up my food…right IN FRONT of me. That is just gross and unsafe restaurant behavior. I’m happy they refunded my money. I hope for the rest of the public, this restaurant will put in place consistent hygiene practices in the future.

We’ve been ordering from China One for years. Unfortunately our recent experience was very disappointing. The Egg Foo Young was OK but the gravy was super salty. The Beef and Broccoli was a 1 star. The beef was so chewy and it had a strange flour coating that looked like fat. I fished out all the beef and tossed it in the trash. Essentially I paid $10.95 for broccoli and rice. We won’t be going back.

I have been a China One customer for years. They are fast no matter how busy they are; it is a rare occasion that I am told more than 5-10 minutes. The food is consistently good and they will customize the order to your liking, adding spice, etc. The owners are extremely dedicated to their business and NEVER take a vacation, which is unfortunate. Call (or stop in) and leave a good tip, they've certainly earned it.

Woman at counter always seems impatient, but I've seen firefighters come in and she knew their usual order so I do respect that. Food is good, it's an average kind of Chinese takeout, but one of the better ones in the area. Price is good for amount of food. Does seem dirty though, like it could really use a good cleaning.
