Five Flavors Herbs

I am always looked down upon when I walk in the store by most of the employees. If you are a person of color I recommend you do not shop at this store. They make it very clear that you are not welcome. They follow you around the store, speak down to you, and treat you like you have no knowledge of any of the products in the store. I've tried to support this local business for 2+yrs but today was the final straw. I cannot and will not deal with their bigotry one more time.

Five Flavors Herbs is my favorite resource for herbal medicines in the Bay area - they offer high-quality bulk herbs (including a great selection of carefully harvested native medicinal herbs), single plant and blended tinctures and glycerites lovingly made in the shop, delicious tea blends, and more. The selection of Western and Chinese herbs is quite extensive, and they offer custom formula blending services for health care practitioners. In addition, Five Flavors Herbs offers classes on herbal medicine for both practitioners and lay people and hosts art and music events and movie nights. They also offer appointments with acupuncturists, herbalists, and alternative medicine practitioners. This lovely shop is a valuable community resource for health, wellness, and alternative medicine. Wow. Words can't describe how much I love this place. Ben Zappin takes his vast knowledge of herbal medicine into a very well run full service pharmacy. As a practicing acupuncturist and instructor of Chinese medicine, I am delighted to be sending my patients here to pick up their herbal formulas. They have amazing tinctures made with herbs from Spring Wind. As an acupuncturist, you can make custom formulas for patients. They have tinctures, powders, and raw herbs. Good prices and very knowledgeable staff. Ben and his wife Ingrid put so much into this business and it shows. They also have some awesome acupuncturists and bodyworkers practicing out of their space. If you're just a member of the public, you can feel comfortable walking in and getting expert advice. Ben offers short, low cost consultations and he really knows his herbs. These people are really trying to do the right thing. They have so much to offer the community!
