Ihop

My son & I stopped here for a quick bite while on our way to an appt. It wasn't that quick, which was a bit disappointing 'cause there were only 3 customers in the building. The food was good and I absolutely loved the purple pancakes. Chicken sandwich and burger were good, but not great. The service was nice and professional. We were 2 min late for our appt. Lol.

First, if you haven't been to an IHop, the breakfast food here is always good any time of day, and this IHop is no different. There was some miscommunication that occurred, causing us to be without service and waiting at our table for 25 minutes before Olivia came to the rescue. Her customer service and attitude are the exact models you would expect from anyone. It was because of her ability to take ownership of the miscommunication (though very easily we could see it wasn't her fault) that started to turn our feelings around. We had several team members walk by to include the person who sat us, who didn't ask if we were being helped or anything. When Olivia took the situation in hand she was very respectful, courteous, and had such a warm attitude that we quickly were able to enjoy our meals without complaint of the wait. I hope this review find Olivia some much needed recognition for the model service. I hope to that process is looked at and trained to ensure others can just enjoy there time here. Still a great place overall and thanks again Olivia.

I usually get omelettes or pancakes when U go to IHOP, but this time I tried their spicy poblano eggs benedict and the fresh fruit on the side. The eggs benedict was pretty good - the sauce was more vinegary than a lot of places, which I prefer, and it has the same toppings that come in the spicy poblano omelette. The only thing that wasn't great about it was that there was a large chunk of egg shell buried in one of them. I will say, however, that our waitress was walking by right as I bit into it, noticed there was an issue, and offered to have the food remade. I declined, since I was mostly through the plate and that was the only piece of shell I found, but I did appreciate that she noticed and offered without us having to hunt someone down and ask. The fresh fruit side was a little more iffy - it definitely wasn't within the realm of what I'd describe as "fresh", with shrivelled blueberries and everything juicy and limp. I wasn't really expecting it to be super fresh, though, so it was about on par with what I'd expected. Nothing too exciting, but it's nice that they have options that aren't just variations on fried potatoes, so I'll take what I can get.

IHOP is one of my favorite chain restaurants, and this one doesn't disappoint. They seem to be short staffed just about every time we're there, but what restaurant isn't short staffed these days? The servers still do an awesome job, even though I'm sure they're stressed. Just be patient and you'll have a good experience. I order the breakfast sampler and sub out the regular buttermilk pancakes for the New York cheesecake pancakes with the strawberries on the side and butter pecan syrup, and they've gotten my order correct 100% of the time. That can't be said for every IHOP out there. We much prefer coming to the Mount Pleasant IHOP over the Saginaw one.
