Biryani Express

I work in Modesto and I was looking for a fantastic Indian food restaurant. Star Indian restaurant popped up on my google list and I checked out the reviews they seemed wonderful, so I decided to check it out. When I walked in the place was spotless. I love Indian food and one thing that caught my eye was they had buttered chicken on the menu. I was sort of disappointed at the fact they did not have a lunch buffet, but the food was worth the wait. I had the Buttered Chicken, Rice & Garlic Naan, and OH MAN was this amazing. I think because I usually always get lunch specials at Indian food restaurants, I don’t really taste the freshness of a meal cooked from scratch. This place knocked it out of the park the chicken was so good, the sauce as well as the garlic naan just topped everything off just right. I am shocked this place is not packed daily for lunch. Its honestly a hidden gem in Modesto. The owner / cook came out to greet me and make sure everything was perfect which it was. You can tell it’s a family owned shop I believe his wife was running the front and his kids were watching TV. I am a family man with kids myself, so it was awesome just to sit down and enjoy such a great meal. I will be sure to spread the word about Star Indian Restaurant to my co-workers and friends. This place is a for sure spot to hit if you are in the area! Thank you for the fantastic food and wonderful customer service! I will be back again!

EDIT: I have to edit the review for this restaurant, due to it changing owners. The image I took two years ago was with the old owners when it was Biryani Express. Honest to goodness, I noticed a significant decline in the quality of the food. It didn't smell or taste as fresh as I had remembered with the older gentleman and woman who worked there each time my wife and I went. The atmosphere isn't as inviting anymore either. I enjoyed the layout, the counter, and friendliness of the staff, and above all, the quality of the food. I could honestly say there was a real feeling of customer obsession with the previous owner. I haven't returned since ownership changed, and I probably won't. I leave this image up as a reference for what this location/restaurant used to be. A darn shame.

I was amazed how the food was .... I'm in Modesto and I have to go far as Ceres to get good India food.... yelp told me about this place .... so I wanted to try it out .... the people were nice and the place was clean and stylish.... but the food is why im posting this review. ... the chicken tikka marsala sauce was perfect in every way... and the big chucks of chicken was delightful... I choose the chicken rice that had plenty of chicken to rice ratio. But the vegetables what surprised me the most... it had more chicken in it but the favor. ...the taste... oooo my I was shocked on how good it was .... I don't think I will be going to Ceres often.... in all my review I am truthful if it's bad it's bad .... and when it good I say what I feel ... but this place is amazing enjoyable. ...
