Hires Big H

We came here on vacation after seeing a blogger post about Hires and we are do glad we did! We highly recommend the Grilled Lemon Chicken Supreme, Grilled Reuben, Cranberry Oven Roasted Turkey Sandwich, the salad with beets, the onion rings with fry sauce, and the big root beer float in a frosted mug! Being our first time, and not knowing what to order, the staff was so kind and helped describe items for us. We loved the food, and staff, so much that we came back again the next day before our trip home!

So this review is going to be a little different. First, there is A LOT of good about this place, but the prices are just too high for what they offer. This was our first time here because we had won a $50 giftcard. We had three adults and four kids and thought that a $50 giftcard would take care of most of the bill at a burger joint. But that was not the case. The staff is super friendly, and the food is really good. I ate the Big H Onion Combo with their Root Beer and finished it off with a Salted Caramel shake. All good food. But here is the thing, we were very strategic about which food we ordered, sharing food, etc, and the bill for us was still $100! I'm sorry, but there are plenty of burger joints that offer just as good food and do not charge $15 for a combo. So, while I think the staff is great, and the food tastes good, it is not worth what they charge.

We hadn't been here in years and decided to take our 4 kids tonight. The food was even better than my wife and I remembered. The burgers were fantastic and the kids cheese dogs were one of the best "kid" choices we've seen. The reason for 4, not 5 stars is because of the sides of fries. It looked like the fries must have run low in the kitchen and they were stretching them out as far as they could. We had 3 "baskets" and the quantity seemed close to 1 or 1 1/2. Seriously, it looked like they deliberately spread them out so that it at least looked like they covered more space.
