Sumo Boy

I've been eating here for roughly 10 years now, still some of the best sushi I've ever had in the entire region Being a sushi snob I also realize that they have the best rice consistency I've had in the greater northeast Ohio region. So many times in many other sushi places that are common to this area the rice is slightly hard and subpar but sumo boy has always had the best sushi rice I've ever had. Their lunch special is still the best bang for your buck for sushi in the entire area, especially considering the quality. The biggest thing to be aware of is that they are struggling to hire people to keep the small business going. I know I saw a couple reviews on them that talked about bad customer service. This is mostly due to the extreme high levels of stress they've been dealing with running the business with basically two people for almost two entire years.

I have never written a review before. However, after my experience picking up for lunch today I had to write a review. Sushi and soup was delicious - besides that customer service is above and beyond and you really can't beat the price. while speaking to the gentleman working I found out people are calling in large orders and not showing up - please out of the kindness of your heart and consideration to an amazing small business, stop doing this. Again I recommend everyone try this place!

Love this place so much! Sumo boy is hands down the best restaurant to get sushi anywhere around, they have a huge variety of rolls and the fish always tastes fresh. Some of my family doesn’t like raw fish, so we often get the cooked meals too, they have teriyaki, all kinds of soups and salads, noodle bowls, etc.. no shade to other places, but there’s something about the flavors and the quality here, and the prices are probably the most reasonable of anywhere I know in the Cleveland area. I saw some comments regarding bad service and I can honestly say I’ve gone here for years and every single server or member of the staff (there’s only been like 5 or 6 of them over the last 5 years) has been extremely polite and accommodating to me. I’ve seen them basically babysit tables with rowdy kids, take care of parties of 20, and go out of their way to help people with questions and dietary concerns, stuff like that, never had a negative experience nor have I seen anyone complain. To each their own I guess. P.S. cleanest bathrooms I’ve ever seen and as the mom of a 6 month old, I was very appreciative of that, but would’ve been happier if there were a changing station.

My family and I are regulars here. I get the chicken Katsu its a really good Japanese dish with what id say is like a tangy barbecue sauce my wife gets sushi and my kids get the kids platter or a stir fry noodle. Everyone loves it we all kinda share and everything I’ve had was pretty damn good . Not an expensive meal for the 5 of us and we’ve been eating here for years.

Just went here for lunch and I have to say, the food is delicious l. I absolutely love it, and the workers were incredibly nice . I was recommended by a friend who raved about the chicken teriyaki, but I got some dumpling appetizers and the sushi lunch special instead, which included 3 rolls and a soup of my choice. Some of the best sushi I’ve had, and such a good deal. Will be going back!!
