Avis sur Saigon Cafe

Been going to saigon for almost 6 years now and it's the best place for vietnamese. The pho is delicious, the rice plates with BBQ pork are amazing. Over time I've been seeing negative reviews of the Owner/Waiter and it baffles me that some folks don't understand that it's a different culture. He keeps to himself so you can enjoy the food. If you call him he will help. Keep an open mind when visiting please, yes it's not your typical restaurant. The food won't disappoint i promise.

if you can get past how quiet it is in there, this place is a 10/10. The waiter keeps to himself, but I guess I didn't mind cause I don't like conversing much or being bothered while i eat. We got the beef pho and it was delicious, I finished the entire thing and it was so filling! Also got the iced coffee which was also super good. Will definitely be going back more often. :)

Ordered beef combination Pho. Absolutely delicious! I come from L.A & S.F and they make some delicious Vietnamese!!! Wifey ordered the chicken vermicelli with egg rolls and it’s to die for. Not the nearest presentation since we already dig into it, but this place is underrated in my opinion. They gained two customers for life today. 🙏🏽

The pho was excellent but this place has the absolute WORST service I have experienced in my life. The owner/ waiter walked over to my table and tossed the menus onto the table in front of me and my wife. He did not ask what we wanted to drink or offer any greeting to us. Not even a suggestion from the menu. The only reason I rated this place as high as I did was because the food was good. My money will surely not be spent here again.

Owner argues with customer??. Its sad to see the owner arguing with a customer just because she wanted more broth for her kids soup. <br/><br/>Food wise was nothing great. Spring rolls were not fresh tasting and peanut sauce tasted nothing of peanuts at all. Pho was lacking flavor and bean sprouts served were wilted and browning up.

The customer service is lower than average. It may be border line rude but maybe it's the owners personality. Once one gets past that, the food is memorable. Priced right & healthy feeling. I always get three items from the menu (Not at the same time). 1. The beef soup (plenty despite being a soup). 2. The vermicelli (traditional dish). <br/>3. The Vietnamese coffee (something you can never get in any Starbux).

I'm going back for more.. Spent 1 month in Vietnam in Feb. 2012. Tried this for the first time last night and my bowl of Vermicelli noodles was very close to the authentic stuff I ate in Vietnam. Portion was more than enough. My friend had a rice plate with shrimp, also a healthy serving. My Vietnamese iced coffee with milk was strong but good.<br/><br/>I'm definitely going back to try other items. I think you should definitely try it.<br/><br/>Note!!! Saigon is run by the Vietnamese owner (from Saigon aka Ho Chi Minh) and kitchen chef. It's like a mom & pop sort of restaurant. When I visited, there were no waitstaff to continuously fill waters and immediately attend your every need. That's what makes this place different and slower paced as compared to get in-get out type restaurants. As the owner ran around, I caught his attention when needed and he checked on us and other patrons when he could. <br/><br/>Orders are taken as first come first serve and it seemed like the food is prepared as your order. Some might come out quickly, others may take more time. Don't feel like you're being singled out or ignored. His customs of waiting tables is a little different than typical smiling waitstaff at other restaurants. Don't be put off.<br/><br/> <br/><br/>What I wanted more of: Family portraits in typical fashion of Vietnamese restaurants. Music (it can get really quiet).

Headcheese!. Went last year. Haven't been back. Got a Grilled Shrimp plate n a sandwich. Took a loooong time. Food was pretty good, but one of the five shrimp was obviously spoiled. The sandwich was yummy. The mysterious meat that was referred to in another review is headcheese, which is basically random bits of the head meat, ears, tongue, not eyes, cooked soft and molded in gelatin or aspic. Super yummy!

For soup and sandwich lovers.. I like coming here for a sandwich rather than hit up a Subway. Basically the same price, mmm about 5 dollars or less and quite healthy. A combination soup on the side makes a generous meal. Although is seems like they reheat their soups in a microwave, which kind of bothers me. Other than that, healthy & scrumptious! :-)

Rude service and low quality food.. Throughout my life I have eaten in numerous Vietnamese restaurants, and each time the food has been great. It's unfortunate that SAIGON CAFE does not serve fresh food and that the owner is rude and grumpy. Customers are not welcome. If you want real service a great southeast Asian meal go to THAI RED CHILI'S instead where the food is tasty, the service is outstanding and customers are welcomed.

Saigon Cafe. Havent been there in a while, I used to get the pork sandwiches, loved those, with that cold cut meat that they put in there, not sure what it was, but I like it. Anyone know what thats called? Its like a slab of meat/coldcut/ kind of gelatin like. Havent been to new location, and I am dissapointed to hear food is not that good now.. Hopefully they will work on that.

Moved and Lousy. Saigon used to be on 10th, and it had pretty good food, although nothing to cheer about. Now they have moved to Nolana, and the first visit was amazingly bad. Iced tea that was colored water, no spring rolls, no wonton, of the two entrees we ordered only came and it was mostly room temp. Another entree came just as we were leaving and it was nothing we had ordered. Then the owner couldn't run the cash register. Other diners weren't happy either; the service was amazingly slow. It was as though no one had ever worked in a restaurant before. We will thing long and hard before going back.
