Portillo's Madison, Wisconsin - East Towne

Great customer service and good food. The chocolate cake is delicious. They also have a drive thru. Went with a friend and we split a chili cheese dog and double cheeseburger. We then each had fries and I had a vanilla shake. Everything was very good. We split a piece of chocolate cake. It's big enough to share.

The picture I took may not do this justice. (I should have done a side view.) I ordered the regular sized Italian beef & it was big! FILLED with beef! This has to be the best Italian beef I've had anywhere & I come from a Chicago family! The staff was super friendly. Atmosphere was awesome! I'll be coming back often when I'm in Madison!

Excellent food with a wide variety of menu items. I have been to this location 15+ times and have always had excellent food. My favorite is the Chopped Salad. Great great interior design. Classic 50's and 60's themes. I love dinning dining inside. The only reason I did not give Portillo's Madison East location a 5 star rating is they still haven't mastered drive through speed, efficiency and service. They even have outside attendants taking orders, but it doesn't not speed up the time it takes to get your food. If you are taking food to go, it's faster to go inside and order your food. So many times I have done that and have seen the same cars sitting in line waiting for their food or waiting to order while I drive away with my food. If you are going through the drive through allow a minimum of 15 minutes to receive your food. The do make all their food fresh to order.

First time eating here and it was fantastic, the atmosphere was awesome the scenery was so cool and the food was delicious. I had the spicy chicken sandwich and I would definitely definitely recommend it, it was cooked thoroughly, crunchy, and juicey. So if your looking for a bite on the East side of Madison definitely stop at portillos!

The staff inside the restaurant went above and beyond. My 8 year old was being silly as we walked in and the staff immediately engaged with positivity. Then they found it was her birthday the day before and at the end of our meal treated to her to a chocolate cake, with a candle and birthday song. She was beyond thrilled and made this mama very happy. It only takes a little bit of kindness to make an impression.

Quality of the food has gone way down hill. I order the Italian Beef with hot peppers and extra gravy because they seem to either dip it too much or not enough. The last two times I have ordered (once in person a few months ago and via Doordash today) the cheese is not melted at all. They literally throw the cheese on top and wrap it up. I have had to microwave it to melt the cheese. Also there is barely any meet on it. Very disappointing and I will not be ordering from Portillo's in the future.
