Barnes & Noble Cafe

I stopped in at this store looking for one specific magazine on crafting. The magazine was not in stock but that lady working at the newsstand went out of her way to check boxes in the back. The magazine I wanted wasn’t in the back. She took my number and promised to call me when it came in and then showed me two other magazines she thought i would like. I bought them and enjoyed them, I didn’t expect her to call me when the other magazine came in and was surprised when she did. I can’t remember her name or I would mention it. She was blonde and very friendly.

There’s no reason to stock your shelves by slamming items into their place. I was in this location attempting to find some new science fiction titles, and seated myself at a table by the magazine section. A middle aged blonde lady came around changing out issues of magazines, slamming them around and scowling. She also was kicking stools around the floor as if they’d done something to offend her, and stomping up and down the steps of that section. It was a very off-putting situation, but if her intent was to rush patrons of this location off by her unpleasant behavior, I refused to be intimidated out of there and left when I got ready. What is so hard about placing items on shelves quietly?

Clean, quiet, the only issue is no plugs for your laptop which is the way Barnes and Noble is everywhere. The problem is that Mist folks see B&N as a coffeeshop with a bookstore. B&N sees itself as a bookstore with a coffee shop. They need to embrace the fact that folks come there to drink coffee and do work. Put more effort on attracting the coffee crowd. Especially in the day of Amazon. B&N needs to attract folks into their stores.
