Came here on a Sunday at lunchtime with about a 15-20 min wait. It's a pretty small restaurant which is better suited for small parties of up to 4 people. My party of 5 got seated and we were a little squished because we got a table that was better suited for four people and just had an extra chair at the end. We ordered via a QR code, paid online, and then our food was brought out.
The chicken karaage came out piping hot and in pretty big pieces. I liked how thin the breading was and the mayo dipping sauce. I got the tsukemen ramen which was tasty. The soup it came with was a little bit saltier than I would have liked it. The portion sizes are pretty big and a couple of us ended up taking home half of our meal.

They were famous for Nironki ramen, which is a style of ramen served with a lot of sprouts and cabbage. The chicken karaage was delicious, and the braised pork was also pretty tasty. However, we weren’t big fans of the soup because the flavor was slightly bland, and we could only tasty soy sauce.

Ramen flavor 5 star, but noodle is a bit too hard take a bit effort to chew. Otherwise could have been 5 stars. Staff is very friendly, and I will come back for sure.

One of the best ramen restaurants in San jose! Their service is very friendly and they speak both English and Japanese in a friendly way! Their tonkatsu is not too sweet and very flavorful! I do wish they make their own noodles though or maybe its a premium add-on... Their pork is very tender and isn't too fatty! They're very careful in how they plate your dish with the position of the seaweed and pork and garlic (which there is alot of and more!).
Overall this was a pretty great place to get some ramen if you're in the mood for it!

Ramen Champ is added to my go-to list for Ramen, and I totally recommend everyone to try out Buta Max Ramen. It was a bomb! Very flavorful broth, huge portion, and variety of toppings in it, it is just different level of creation that I have never tried it at any other place before. Raymond was very attentive and courteous to me and my colleague, and I will definitely come back soon and look forward to exploring different menu. Great Job! Ramen Champ

The maze men had very good noodles, but was a bit too rich for me. Would probably be a good idea to get something acidic to cut through the richness. I also made the mistake of putting all of the provided hot sauce in which made everything too salty. Next time I’ll do things a little differently.

You order by scanning a QR code on the table with your phone, which is more convenient than needing to flag someone down to order.
I got the tonkotsu ramen and teriyaki chicken karaage. My friend got the miso ramen. As other reviews have mentioned, the noodles here are the thick kind, so they have a firmer consistency than the kind you can find at places like Ramen Nagi or Hiro Nori.
Teriyaki chicken karaage: 10/10! It was absolutely delicious, both sweet and salty with just the right amount of crunch and juicy chicken. They give you one lemon wedge for acidity and there's a dollop of Japanese mayo on the side for dipping. The chicken pieces are big, too. For me, this was the highlight of my meal.
The tonkotsu ramen was decent. I couldn't finish the whole bowl because the noodles were so thick, but I did like the chewiness of them. The broth was perfectly salted, although a bit greasy. I ordered an egg with it, but sadly it didn't have any taste to it. The yolk was also slightly overcooked and didn't have the same jelly-like texture that I prefer.
Overall not a bad place to go for a bite, although the wait time for food can be a bit long. The table we sat at was a little dirty, but easy to fix by wiping with a napkin. Would I come back? For that chicken karaage, yes, but maybe I'll try a rice bowl next time.

Fantastic local ramen and quick service! Food comes out piping hot and tonkatsu broth and noodles have improved over the last few years.
This is our go to place when we don't want to drive to VF.

They deserve 10 stars! We planned our errands in the area so that we could do lunch here & came in at 1:10 pm when they close at 1:30 pm. We were still seated with a smile (there’s no air conditioning so we sat under the ceiling fan) & helped ourselves to the menu’s. The service was stellar, the server was very helpful polite & kept refilling our ice cold water (super refreshing on a hot day). I wish we could’ve tipped him more but we went over budget for our lunch. The food was deliciously lip smacking, the takoyaki was so yum! The miso ramen (not spicy) hit the spot & the pork was so tender. The chicken karaage portion was bigger than my face & I had to get a take away container for the leftovers in the end. I wish I had more space in my belly for the broth that came with it! Highly recommend this cute little restaurant, clean bathrooms, great service and amazing food!!

The fam had a sudden craving for ramen on our way to our hotel in Pacifica. Ramen Champ showed up in google map as on the way and had the higher review ratings in Google. The hubby and the girls defaulted to their miso ramen. I had to try the Buta Max Ramen. I did ask the server if it would be enough between me and my husband. He said he it could be enough but he could actually finish one on his own. I was kind of unsure so I just got one order to try, in addition to the 3 miso ramen bowls ordered. We were all very hungry at the time. That was my mistake. That thing could have fed all 4 of us… it was huge. I actually really enjoyed it. The soup was perfectly seasoned (not salty) and had a slight sweetness to it. The hand made noodles were chewy and tender. My husband also preferred it over the miso ramen he ordered. They serve bigger portion compared to the ramen places we typically eat at in SoCal. So in case you are in the area, and wanted to try them out, just know they do serve a good portion.

I can't get enough of this place! The buta max is unreal... Never had anything like it. To those in the kitchen, thank you so much for all your hard work and everything you do. Your food brings me joy ❤️❤️❤️ (I order mine with no bean sprouts so that's what you see in the photo).

Had ramen and takoyaki and they were great. What was better was the service, we were served water again and the best part was they saw we were struggling with chopsticks (I may have had 'how to use chopsticks' open on YouTube on my phone) and offered forks and also an extra bowl to share our noodles etc. It's a small space, luckily we reached half an hour before closing and we did not have to wait. Overall a great experience.

Good ramen with it's own style. We had the mazesoba, tonkutsu and buta ramen. Tonkutsu broth was creamy. The buta ramen reminds me of Nagasaki champon style. The mazesoba has its own personality. Noodles are done perfect. Good!

It was delicious and amazing service. We usually drive all the way to SF from DT San Jose for good ramen, I don’t think we need to drive that far anymore after trying this place!! Everything was delicious. My fave was the calamari and tonkatsu ramen. The miso ramen was amazing too… the baby food in the pic is not in the menu lol

This used to be a mom and pop bento spot for several decades, RC has kept the tradition alive, albeit with ramen. The ambience is still hole in the wall, but tastefully so. Not a good spot for large parties. Service when I went for lunch on a weekday was polite, attentive and just the right amount of friendly. There was no wait.
I've been doing a tour of all the south bay ramen spots, always going for lunch. I usually go for the classic tonkotsu or miso ramen. This place isn't called the champ for nothing. They win in my book.
They have local canned beer, I went with an IPA and ordered the miso ramen. The noodles were thick, fresh, and paired very nicely with the rich broth that still maintained a lightness that made eating so easy. The real star was the pork, it was melt in your mouth tender, juicy and full of flavor. The veggies polished off the Umami, overall the best experience I've had during this campaign. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!
Highly recommended for ramen fans, especially if you prefer pork based broths and appreciate good meat balanced out with great noods and extras.
