The Plains

One of the few places in town to get a nice diner breakfast. However, the food is great and the management has done great to improve the building over the years of the current ownership. Good omelets, skillets, classic combos, and build your own options. Brunch, lunch, and dinner are excellent for this style of food. The coffee shop also will provide food to bowlers to lanes in this facility. Two other kitchens provide sports bar and banquet food options as well as at least four bars to provide beverages to the various patrons.

Went and ate today at the coffee shop and the management is the worst i’ve ever seen in my years visiting restaurants. First off, it took a total of 10 minutes to even get a menu. The woman who appears to be the manager here was arguing with employees for helping and taking my drink order for my husband and I while she was busy sending this employee home in the middle of a rush. I just wanted some water after she had passed me several times ignoring my presence. The only people who cared were the ones who were so called “standing around.” I heard many accounts of this lady talking bad about the employees and their own personal problems of privacy!!! This place needs some serious help if it wants to stay positive and running. Only good thing was the food. But the manager at the coffee shop is very ignorant and disrespectful towards her customers and her employees.

I always call in 2 omelets to go. They no longer do "to go's" on Sunday because they are too busy and they do not do "to go's" during bowling tournaments. I've never seen a place turn down business. Especially the "to go" business that surely helped them last year during the pandemic. I love the omelets. They are ALWAYS great but it appears my business just makes their job too difficult so I will stay clear. 😉

We both had the prime rib special. And it was prepared perfectly. Tender and tasty. The soup and salad bar were very good. I added the jumbo shrimp to my dinner. Excellent. We sat at the bar in the bowling alley and had a nice conversation with the bartender and the owner. Next time in Huron SD I will definitely go back. Oh, and the drinks were good too.
