Cafe On Three

The Shingle Inn at Hornsby has really good service, and it’s staff care about it’s customers very much and coming over to ask you how your meal is, if you’d like something else and just chatting is not uncommon. They have always gotten more order right and remember you and what you ordered the next time round. The food is very good and their chicken Caesar salad is delicious. Well done!

Many moons ago, I visited the Shingle Inn in Hornsby Westfield shopping centre. I ordered for myself a hot cappuccino and a serving of vegemite toast. When the coffee came, I thought I “wow, this is good!” However, when the toast arrived, I was shocked by the serving size. One singular piece of toast smothered in vegemite served on a side plate! In my twenty years of visiting cafes on the North Shore, I have never been so shocked and disappointed. On the menu, it says Sourdough Toast $4.70, two slices of bread. After reading the menu, I confronted the member of staff and her response appalled me. She said to add an additional piece of toast it would cost $2.70. This is a clear violation of the menu stated. I will be sure to NEVER return to the Shingle Inn and will take my custom to abodes where the menu is followed and there are no hidden charges. Bob

Went here with my sister, as we love our big breakfasts. This place was comically bad! Staff took a long time to seat us, and when they did they were very rude. The cutlery and glasses were dirty and one glass still had lipstick around the rim. After taking our order the food took almost an hour to arrive, by which time we were starving. The cafe was also not very busy at this point. When the food finally arrived it was cold, and not what we ordered. The food portions were tiny! For example, the "side of mushrooms," turned out to be two button mushrooms cut very finely. We decided to leave and when we went to pay the bill the staff were very rude again. Avoid this restaurant!!

Giving a rating of 1 only because it’s the lowest available. Absolutely disgusting customer service and lack of common sense. They can’t even distinguish the fact that a iced long black does not belong in a small glass cup but rather in a glass mug. We asked for the iced long black to be put in a glass mug and it got placed in a coffee mug... There is a reason why there are no people at this cafe... HIGHLY recommend people to avoid coming here. This has happened not once but 3 times. Absolutely a waste of money (everything is over-priced) and poor customer service. They should learn some manners and common sense before deciding to work in a industry which is based on customers input and need for excellent customer service. Never coming back here ever again.
