A really enjoyable fine dinning experience.
The restaurant is located at the central of Hobart CBD. Service is attentive and friendly. Presentation is second to none. Quite Asian fused modern Australian cuisine.
Overall the taste is a bit too salty for my personal taste. However, the highlight of the night is the desert. Mandarin is the key note of this dish. Laying is the key to its success. From the buttermilk foam outside, sugar glazed mandarin in the middle, and then the ice cream in the middle. Airy, tangy, creamy. Such a wonderful piece of art, not only a desert. Credit to the chef.

I’d be here all day if I wrote down everything good about this restaurant. An amazing experience and so happy we went. The service and the food was such a pleasant, genuine experience. It’s my number one recommendation for anyone I know visiting Hobart. They have an amazing diverse vegan menu also which is not something you see very often.

Beautiful and creative food! Flavours were amazing with some Asian influence, and the team used it appropriately to show off Tasmania produce. All dishes were perfectly cooked as well; never had a pork this tender before!
It's a great value for money for the quality you get, and ambience is hip and classy. One minor suggestion is that it would be great if more Tassie wines could be ordered by glass :)

A very mediocre and disappointing fine dining experience. We got their vegan tasting menu and I had specifically asked for dietary requirements for my partner (who cannot eat garlic and raw onion). Although the waitress was friendly and said they could accommodate as per my booking, we were very surprised to find garlic in their sichuan tofu and raw onion in their oyster mushroom and zuchinni dish.
We did not complain about the tofu dish at the time as we had trusted that this had no garlic as requested. (And assumed it must have been cooked onion) Unfortunately this was not the case and my partner was extremely sick for the rest of the night after dinner.
In regards to the food, for a fine dining experience (comparing this to Sydney restaurants) I was hoping for more innovation and finesse in the dishes. The Asian dishes were very mediocre and something I could buy at a regular Chinese restaurant.
On a positive note, the ambience was lovely and staff were friendly. It is a nice place to go to if you have little dietary requirements and are looking for something different in Tasmania. I'm not sure how their meat dishes are but as a vegan with dietary requirements I would not recommend this restaurant for the price you pay.

Last night's meal @aloftrestaurant_ was one of the best dining experiences I have had. From the minute I walked in the door, I felt welcome. The staff were amazing, the chefs were amazing, sitting at the kitchen bar was amazing and the food was amazing. I'll definitely be back!

Tasmania trip (last minute as usual due to ever changing covid restrictions 🤦🤣). Christmas Eve dinner at @aloftrestaurant_ - absolutely fantastic dining experience! The chef's menu (100$ pp) was perfectly executed, and had an Asian influence. Every course was yummy, and had something surprising and interesting. The drinks selection was excellent, and the service was amazing and friendly, even though they were fairly busy. Well done 🙂🙂.
.
Oyster, nasturtium flower mignonette: we aren't normally big fans of raw oysters, but these ones were really good! They were big and juicy, and the sauce was super tangy and delicious.
.
Sashimi, ponzu, cucumber, sesame: super fresh kingfish sashimi, which was complemented by multiple yummy ingredients 🤤.
.
Wallaby tartare, Sichuan pepper, tapioca: I've never had wallaby before, but I guess it tastes like kangaroo 😅. At first I didn't know if I'd like the Sichuan pepper flavour, but these were very yummy - if you eat the tartare with the cracker in one bite, the flavours are like a party in your mouth 😍😍.
.
Chinese Masterstock Crispy Pigs Ears (+12$): we opted to add this optional course because who can resist crispy stuff 😂😂? They were very savoury and crispy - absolutely delicious! We finished it in record time 😅😅.
.
Crispy eggplant, fermented chilli: this was so good! The inside is nice and soft, and the outside was lightly crisped, and coated with this sticky sweet sauce that had a hint of chilli. Nicely done!
.
Stanley Bay scallops, nasturtium nam jim jaew: tangy sauce on the scallops, which were super tender and done perfectly!
.
Market fish (blue eyed trevalla), fennel, zucchini, goats curd: this dish had a beautiful presentation, in particular with the foam. The fish itself had a firm texture, and the skin was crispy. The fish flesh also had lots of flavour in it 🤤🤤.
.
Pork, macadamia shavings, miso, charred broccolini: the pork is one of the most tender pork I've ever had! It was super super easy to cut and pull apart with your cutlery 😍😍. The flavours were amazing too! Loved the macadamia shavings, which added a nice additional layer of flavour to the dish. Excellent!
.
Meyer lemon, caramelised white chocolate, buttermilk foam, honeycomb sprinkle: this dessert definitely deserves its own post. It was very delicate, and had the perfect balance of tangy and sweet flavours. The different layers were so nicely done 🤤🤤😍😍. So good!!

WOW! 5/5! What at fabulous experience. Visiting from Melbourne, this restaurant ticked all boxes and exceeded expectations. Starting with a fabulous view over the River Derwent, the food was incredible and although we were trying to recover our bellies from a full 6 course degustation menu at MONA, we HAD to finish each and every morsel on our plates. The food is unique, balanced and so flavoursome! My daughter is vegetarian and so fussy and just LOVED every dish. The desert was AMAZING (sorry no photos)! Our waitress Bronte was exceptional...attentive and knowledgeable. In fact all staff really demonstrated their knowledge of intricate flavours and showed passion with each course they delivered. This extended to the wine menu too. The music created a great ambience...there was a great energy and buzz. I thanked Head Chef and owner Christian who was soooo delightful! We wished we could go back the next night but it will have to be on our next visit to Hobart! Thanks for such a memorable & enjoyable night! x

Staff were lovely about fitting us in on a Tuesday. We were seated at the bar.
They are set menu only at $100 a person. Overall I'd say the food was quite expensive for what was delivered. I regularly review food in my home city and I'd say that this was more expensive than Canberra food at a similar standard.
The food was fine, but I didn't feel like it had enough depth or complexity to command that price point. That said, Tasmania is a smaller city, so perhaps this is normal?
The wine list was also lacking for a restaurant pitching at this level.
If you are going, I'd recommend asking for tables by the windows and ensuring you go during sunset. The water views might've made for a slightly different experience.
