Sumo

The food is great but the customer service is very uhm… weird. My husband is white and he says every time he’s come in here there has been zero problems. I came in for a pick up and dealt with straight attitude from the front worker. (I’m a woman of color) I don’t know if the guy was just having a bad day or if it was because of my very own confusion on how to pick up my order but I’m probably never eating here again simply because of that. I work in this industry and even if I’m having a bad day I still try to smile and seem like I want to be here. Again, food is great. This is my second time dealing with the same guy and my second time dealing with the same attitude. Also he just slammed my food down and just called the name.

A little disappointed in my to go meal. I ordered the H4 Hibachi vegetable meal with rice and side veggies. They kipper me by just giving me a few hibachi vegs with none on the side. Rice was flavorless and the least time I went it was very flavorful. That was one of the reason I decided to go today. My meal was very lackluster, basically warm tasteless peppered veggies and flavorless rice. I was so hungry to so I went ahead and at it :/

I've heard great things about the sushi here. I stopped by to pick up some for lunch. I arrived a lil after normal lunch time and there was still a decent crowd. This place is small, not a whole lot of seating. So if you plan on coming for a sit down lunch or dinner, I'd advise you get there early. I tried an array of different sushi. It was packaged nicely. The only thing I didn't like is they didn't include chopsticks in my to go bag. The sushi was pretty good and really inexpensive.

I gave Sumo a pass the first time I tried their food and all of the rolls I ordered were poor in quality and construction. I was fortunate to be stationed in Hawaii and Okinawa so I knew this sushi was going to be less than what I'm accustomed to. But the insane wait time they have AND the lack of quality is ridiculous. My last order was just teriyaki chicken that was supposed to be ready in 30 mins.... then an additional 20 mins..... then another 20 mins. Over an hour wait to get WAY overcooked inedible "meat." I guess they are fortunate that so many new people come in from the base that don't know Sumo is terrible until it's too late.
