Kickback Jacks

Horrible Experience!!! We were in Hickory, NC for a youth basketball tournament this weekend. In between games we wanted to get lunch. We arrived at Kick Back Jacks. Many, many empty tables. We checked in at the hostess station. There were 3 groups of 6 total. We didn’t need nor request to sit together. The hostess took all three groups info to text us when our tables were ready. The manager walks up and they whisper to each other. He then walks over and says that he is gonna have to refuse us service and will not allow his staff to seat us. He says that they don’t allow groups of 8 or more. And we said we are all separate families just here at the same time and some are willing to sit together if that helps, we would just like to feed our kids before their next ball game. He said, no! I am not gonna seat you nor accommodate you regardless if you are together or separate. Meanwhile group after group of people come in and get seated that arrived after us. As well as tons of staff, just standing around. Nevertheless we left because who wants to spend money and eat where someone doesn’t want you? We went to Hickory Tavern, where we were served and treated like valuable customers. I would never spend money in an establishment ran by such a hateful, arrogant manager that would turn away a 10 year old girls basketball team for no good reason. Just absolutely horrible.

I placed an order to go on door dash. We are from out of town so didn't know what to expect. I thought the prices were so reasonable so I didn't think twice choosing an 8 dollar dessert. I thought for sure it would be a huge piece of shareable cake for that price. I also ordered an extra serving of ice cream for 1.18 extra so I could split with my son and didn't receive it in my order. The food was delicious. Haven't made it to the cake yet. Maybe it's a tiny amazing cake with every penny. My son will have to let me know. So still 5 but just give some more cake for the buck or lower the price. The food was sooooo good. I got the buffalo chicken wrap and my son got th chicken fingers, fries and broccoli. Highly recommend for dinner...but maybe go somewhere after for dessert. Or do what I should do instead and skip it entirely. 🤣

Good food and drinks at a reasonable price. I had their early bird fish and chips. I asked for well done fries and they missed that, but the fish was excellent. My wife had the ribs and fried shrimp. They were fall of the bone ribs and very well prepared fried shrimp. Drinks were good and reasonably priced. Good job!
