Chicken King

I am sitting here after reading the reviews on the chicken and not even being a big fan of chicken and tasting heaven and the gravy is genuinely the best I’ve ever had perfect seasoning. I can’t believe chicken can taste this good so juicy and no salt or pepper needed. I usually add hot sauce to my chicken but today for the first time I add nothing but the gravy

Had this on the calendar to visit after someone local to the area recommended it. We went on a Wednesday around 9:30 am and the parking lot and inside were packed. Wait staff was friendly and prompt. Many local folks appear to dine here and there was much visiting between tables. Decor was chickenish, with plenty of statuettes, images, teapots and feathered friends to chuckle over. Coffee was hot and service was good, everything came exactly as ordered. Prices were great for the very filling meals. I had the chicken fried steak with choice of potato, biscuit or toast and eggs (any style). My Mom had the Mexican omelette and hash browns with onion. The chicken fried steak was tender and had a nice shatter to the breading. The biscuits were light, fluffy and huge. Sausage gravy had big chunks of sausage and was flavorful. Mom finished her breakfast then finished my biscuit and the last few bites of the CFS. After our meal we had a nice visit with a table of local diners who asked us about our meal and if we would be back. (Yes!) Definitely worth the trip to visit this busy and fun hometown diner.

So drove by many times always busy, finally stopped and waited for a table. Best decision we’ve made in a long time! Staff was so sweet and accommodating to everyone and well the food, AMAZING!!!!!!! New favorite spot I know recommending means more of a wait but I have to give this place the praise it deserves…. Well done Chicken King well done!!

Had lunch here today. We were told by a neighbor at our RV park that this was "the best fried chicken ever" so of course we had to taste for ourselves. As a southerner, I was completely disappointed. No seasoning, very overcooked and dry and I had the thigh/leg combo. My husband had the breast and couldn't even swallow it. The cheese grits were cold. The fried okra was ok. The service was fantastic. Our waitress was so nice and she's the reason I'm not leaving a 1 star. The place could use a good cleaning too. I definitely don't understand all the hype about this place.

Lunchtime can be very busy, so if don't have any patience, don't visit. However, if you are patient, the wait is worth it! Good comfort food at decent prices (considering the present economic situation/inflation, etc.)! The chicken & dumplings lunch special was REALLY close to my late grandmother's recipe... Thanks for taking me down the nostalgic "memory lane"!🏆🤗

This review is my opinion and based on my visit to this establishment on April 5, 2022. I have been a longtime fan of CK. Today our meal was sub par. There were shells in the eggs, in my opinion the bacon was under cooked and the grits were lumpy. Only thing good, in my opinion was coffee and toast. Has there been a change in who is cooking? Very disappointed
