Rustic Reuben

AMAZING food and service, would 10/10 recommend. Very warm and friendly staff who know the menu inside and out. If you don't know what to order they'll give you a great recommendation. This place is a must-visit. The sandwiches are to die for and they serve the best fries I've ever had in my life. Why are you still reading this review when you should be running directly there to grab a bite?

Rustic Reuben is a gem in Hamilton. It is located in a non-descript plaza on the ground floor. Warning paid parking is enforced, I think... (what is up with Hamilton and charging for parking everywhere)! I was serviced by a friendly lady and a gentleman who I assume to be the owner. The lady was helpful in explaining the menu and making suggestions. The owner was patient and engaging as he explained the differences between corn beef and brisket. In addition he explained the process of brining the proteins, marinating and smoking them. Needless to say, I want to try them all. I ended up ordering the O.G. or the Reuben (since it is in their store name). Reuben, if you do not know, is Marble Rye bread with house made corn beef, Saurkraut, Butter Pickles, House Made Russian Sauce, and Swiss Cheese. The ratio of the bread, to meat, to saurkraut and fixes are spot on. It is a well balanced sandwich. In taking a bite, I get the saltiness from the corn beef, the acid from the saurkraut and pickles which cuts through the saltiness of the beef, creamy dressing, crunch of the pickles and at times the flavour of the swiss cheese permeates through. It`s an explosion of flavour in every bite and contrast of textures. If I am ever back in Hamilton, I will be trying other proteins.

I don't have enough good things to say about this place. We were filming at Mohawk College and someone recommended The Rustic Reuben. First of all the staff are friendly, fun and really good at what they do. Second, we were 7 minutes away and by the time we ordered ahead and arrived our order was ready and made perfectly. I will straight up fight another Human Being for The Smokey Melt. And last but not least, the place is spotless, bright and inviting. Clean washrooms and lots of parking. Next time you're filming in The Hammer I highly recommend The R.R. is a great place for Break, lunch or Second Meal. Very supportive and accommodating to Film and Television Productions.

I have found my new FAV lunch spot in Hamilton. I can not say enough good things about this wonderful family owned business. First of all the customer service is incredible. The young girl that works at the counter taking orders has such a vibrant personality and really makes you feel welcome. I was really unsure what to order as everything on the menu looked great but she recommended some of their best sellers and fully described them to me. I had a pork Belly sandwich which I have to say was THE best pork belly I have ever tasted. It was so good I went back the very next day and ordered the pulled pork poutine which did not disappoint. I aim to try everything on their menu. It really is a great place to eat!!!!

Absolutely divine food found here. Went in right at opening after a meeting I had, and they were kind enough to explain the process of their food preparation and made suggestions for what I could get in future visits. Super friendly people behind the counter that take pride in the food they prepare. And, no doubt, the food reflects that pride. Great stuff.

Went here today for lunch, the young lady behind the counter was so friendly and nice, they put our order in and had some issues with payment with credit card. She said that the food had been ordered and we should sit for our order and pay later as the payment came back on line. We have lunch, food was amazing. The payment never came back on, she offered that the food was on the house. Very thoughtful, I will go back to pay for the meal next week. Loved this place.
