Embers Wood Grill

This is one of the best restaurants in Gainesville. Their steak is top notch. We ordered a couple of seafood dishes and they were all good too. They have a beautiful garden outdoor seating for spring weather. The entrees come with two sides, all delicious. Win selection is good too. This is a great place to celebrate special occasions. Will come back again.

My husband and I came here for our one year wedding anniversary and we had a wonderful experience. Donny, our server, was constantly checking on us and did his best to make sure we were comfortable. Initially we sat inside and it was hot, and we were quickly seated outside to a nice candlelit dinner by the fountain. We were the only couple there and it was a nice, intimate dinner. We were recommended a very nice red wine, the Annabella, and we really enjoyed it. My steak was cooked to perfection.

The food here is absolutely amazing and totally worth the prices! We enjoyed everything that we got, but we especially loved the shrimp and grits, the lobster bisque, the coconut shrimp, the lobster mashed potatoes, and the filet mignon. The cocktails were strong, and the chocolate torte and cheese plate (so good!) were a great way to wrap up the meal.

First I would like to say had a remarkable experience from the bar to my table. Victor the bartender was a breath of fresh air. Service and professionalism was superb. Our server Melvin was very informative and well kept. He made sure everyone at the table was taken care of. Service was impeccable. The food was sooo good; best steak ever. The texture was beyond moist and tender. The crab mash potatoes were great as well. The food is worth it. The service is worth it. I am from NY and I would definitely go back to gainsville for that's steak.

On a scale of documentaries to fluffy romance novels, Embers Wood Grill is The Great Gatsby in opulence and styling. From a red carpet leading into the restaurant to the cloth towels in the bathroom, no detail is overlooked, but the true decadence comes from the menu and drinks. Everything about Embers Wood Grill blew me away. Our group was seated at a large circular table (we were a group of eight), and our server offered impeccable service, providing information and well-timed humor. While I wish I could say I'm a wine connoisseur, I'm not. I chose my wine simply by the cost, and the $20 glass of red wine was amazing. Most red wine causes me painful heartburn, but this red wine did not (how I wish I knew the exact wine it was). We shared a seafood platter appetizer, and each seafood item was cooked to perfection. It melted in the mouth in the best possible way. Embers lives up to its promises with its steak, and I don't know if I'll ever experience another steak that's quite that good! The sides of mac n' cheese and vanilla sweet potatoes were pure bliss, and I'll be dreaming of those for days to come. If you ever have the opportunity to visit Embers Wood Grill, I absolutely suggest it. The prices are steep, but the food and service is exquisite.

Came here for our 2nd anniversary and it lived up to the hype! While I wouldn't say this is the best steak restaurant I've ever been to, but it's top notch for Gainesville. The steak was cooked perfectly, sides were good, and wine paired perfectly. We also appreciated the impeccable service and free ice cream for dessert. Prices are reasonable for a fine dining restaurant in Gainesville. We'd come back for another special occasion.

I come to Embers for a Smokey Old Fashioned and ended up enjoying the apps which were the cheese and meat tray with garlic toast, the crab bisque and the sirloin burger. Really amazing! You have to try these to appreciate the depth of flavors. The entrees look really good and I’ll be back. Gotta try the banana fosters cheese cake. Yum.
