The Running Stream

A local gem. Proper English Pub with a very friendly and warm welcome from a nice set of locals and friendly and helpful landlady who knows how to run a pub. Been visiting now as one of our locals for a year. I’m a real ale fan so it’s great that the ale is kept really well. It’s not a gastro pub but the other half is a big foodie and we’re very pleasantly surprised at the quality of her own cooked food. Last had the beef in ale stew which was great. A range of vans appear in the week serving food. Have tried the smoked meat van a few times with the family which was good. Overall, my perfect type of pub. No TV, lovely locals and landlady, great ale, and good parking. Can’t actually find anything negative to say about the place.

Absolutely love this pub! It is a very friendly place with comfortable seats and a congenial atmosphere. They do Quiz Night on a Tuesday, Meat Raffle on a Friday and have 'live' music some weekends. The landlady, Carolyn, makes a point of talking to everyone in the pub and shows a genuine interest in her customers. I would highly recommend seeking out The Running Stream and would give 10 stars if it were possible.

Thursday nights the Running Stream is visited by a burger bar called Crumpys Smoke Shack. We had the Risk it for a Brisket burger, oh so good!! The guy makes all the burgers himself. The owners father brought us over some Korean Cauliflower to try, which was also amazing. He varies the menu every week so there will always be different things to try. We talked about him expanding his Korean food range. We will definitely be back. The pub itself, the staff were friendly, it was quiet so no waiting time. From what I saw of the pub it's small but does have a beer garden.
