High Side

High Side is a very unusually interesting place. Its retro aesthetic on the inside makes it into a great hip brewery which definitely pleases my eyes because I love the retro design aesthetic. Combined the tapas style Asian street food options- it makes the place into a delightful experience. Now let’s talk about service. I think it needs a little work but for the most part the level of courtesy is good. The beer menu is absolutely fantastic and it is a great spot for a bunch of friends/coworkers to get together and have a blast. Food - I think with food it also needs to stand out a bit more if it wants make its mark. That said I really enjoyed the tornado fries. I will definitely have another visit with friends for sure.

I have wanted to review this place for a while... But I really don't want it to get too busy where I can't get a seat! High Side never disappoints. My fiance and I come here a few times a month. The food is fantastic (small plates, modern Asian cuisine). They stock a well-rated, curated, rotating selection of beer on tap and in their little bottle shop. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The location in Old Town Fairfax is always clean, but it is on the smaller side. They have 2 tables on a little patio out front; we like to sit at one of these when we bring our dog. Otherwise, we try to get a seat at the bar inside. I can't rate this place highly enough! Give them all of your business - but only when I'm not there! :-)

This is our favorite place in downtown Fairfax. We always get the sweet potato fries, spicy pickles, and usually get chicken buns. The kids really like tornado fries. Of course the selling point for us is also the amazing rotating beer selection. During Covid we have been sitting outside and I hope they keep that up, because it’s really a fun to be out in the mix in a bit in downtown Fairfax.

The beer selection here is phenomenal! They cover their bases with the essentials, but I love that there are lots of unique and creative beers for the more adventurous drinker. The food is delicious as well. The owner, Jinson, is a super friendly guy and really knows his stuff! If you are in the area, you absolutely need to check this place out.

Great people, world-class beers, unique food menu options and amazing staff/beertenders. They always make you feel welcome, with positive vibes and great conversation. And they just celebrated their fourth anniversary, having transformed Fairfax City into a place where rare beers are poured and good times are had. Always meet great people when hanging out there, and from ownership on down, everyone there is down to earth and accepting. Make sure to stop in and grab a brew with their signature Tornado Fries! Nothing else in the FFX City area stacks up. They're one-of-a-kind. Big fan. Family-like vibes every time I'm there. Cheers to four more years and beyond!
