Nice small place at the heart of escondido downtown for breakfast, good service and food quality. Kids liked their pan cakes and hot chocolate there. I tried breakfast special, prime rib eggs Benedict with house potatoes. It was delicious. Breakfast tacos were good too. Will go there again to try other items in the menu. We arrived little after 9 am and there wasn't any wait so that's big plus.

We came here for breakfast, staff was really friendly and attentive. The food on the other hand was not good. We waited for an hour to get our food and for 12 bucks we got 1 egg, 1 sausage, not even a full slice of bacon, potatoes and two pancakes. Seriously a joke. The pancakes were good but not worth the money. Will not recommend

This was our first time visiting here.
Rosie's cafe has such a nostalgic diner feel. From the cozy size dining area to the counter that sees where the servers make fresh squeezed orange juice.
Andrew was our server and proudly informed us that nearly the entire menu in the cafe was made in house. What I love about this visit was the genuine conversation that, at one point, had our server going to other coworkers looking for the name of the parrot that was perched at the business next door.
I loved that I was able to have a quick chat with the owner/cook from the counter about my eggs. It added to my certainty that this establishment served and cooked with love and pride in their food.
I picked the number one special on their simple and easy to navigate menu. The pastrami included in my meal was delicious, and I was not surprised to find it was made in house along with the soft home fries.
A good sign the home fries are made well is when the bell peppers and onions are softened and have a slight char - combined with the crisp potatoes - yum.
The kids were going to share a dish and it came out of the kitchen already divided onto different plates with freshly sliced fruit consisting of strawberries, apples, cantaloupe/, and bananas. Very thoughtful of Rosie.
Should we be in the area again, this would definitely be a place we'd gladly visit.

Rosie’s makes some great food. I had the #6 and I did feel like I was eating like a champion. The corned beef hash was exquisite and fresh. The eggs were spot-on. The cinnamon roll was a bit disappointing. It looked gooey and delicious, but it wasn’t melt in your mouth and seemed more about the sugar than the cinnamon.
We came to Rosie’s on a Sunday around 11 and the place was packed. The service wasn’t the greatest (thus the 3 stars). The wait staff seemed overwhelmed and were rushing, which detracted from their friendliness. If we hadn’t chosen to walk up to the counter to pay, I don’t even know if we would’ve been noticed for half an hour (we had already been waiting a considerable amount of time after it was obvious that we had finished our meal). My recommendation is avoid the busiest time. The food was well-done; the service could just use some improvement.

Holy cow! This place is great! We started our late breakfast with Passion Fruit iced tea. I love strong tea and this didn't disappoint. I ordered The Grand Breakfast while my wife had the Three egg Scramble. First of all the side of pancakes were probably THE BEST PANCAKES I HAVE EVER HAD! The eggs, bacon and hash browns were very good, but the pancakes were out of this world. The Scramble was excellent as well!
Do yourself a favor and come to Rosie's Cafe!

Warm, homemade, quality food, local vibe, good service. Owner personally engaged and passionate!!! Have eaten breakfast here several times and visited with Rosie and staff each visit. Real deal, all American experience! (Eggs Florentine and Rosie's Benedict)

Interesting place for breakfast. The menu is different from the usual fare. The pancakes were different, a bit too sweet for me. Worth a try if u are in the neighborhood.

I had to give at least 1 star for the friendly service. The food on the other hand was a different matter. I ordered the fish tacos ($14.00) and a Pepsi. I also ordered a side salad instead of fries. At first glance the food looked fantastic. But then I took my first bite and knew I had made a mistake. The fish in the tacos tasted old and reminded me of fish sticks left in the freezer too long. Needless to say, I won't be going back. My total bill was just under$18. After the tip I left just under $23.00 poorer.
