Smoke Stack

From the moment we went into Smokestack until the moment we left the staff were really attentive which made for such a warm visit. Our starters of haggis balls and brie were outstanding and served within 5 minutes of ordering. We were given water at the table and I ordered the Australian Knot Shiraz which was excellent whilst my wife had Gin & tonic. Our main meals were really good as well and served quickly. All followed by coffee. The restaurant was pretty busy for a Wed evening. We would return again but sadly its closing at the end of Sep 2022 after 28years.

Genuinely excellent food, good service, worth every penny. The wine was excellent, the steak cooked perfectly and the starters disappeared very rapidly for being so delicious. I would absolutely go again. My one gripe is the side of vegetables, which were clearly just the dregs of a frozen bag of veg mix, which I object getting charged a fiver for.

Our second visit here, having breakfast. Pleasant staff, efficient. Good service. Nice to see the conscious choices to reduce environmental impact - from the story of the refurb through to the locally sourced ingredients. Dairy alternatives available. Will return again, recommend you give the place a try!

Definitely a place you must go to while in Edinburgh. Went for a pre theatre meal and had the tomato basil soup and fish and chips. Was the best soup I've had in a while. Definitely will go back just for that if I can. The fish and chips were great as well. Not soggy like some places I've been too. The hostess was nice and pleasant and very accommodating as well. The price is right which makes it even better!
