Bauder's is a FANTASTIC experience! It is beautifully decorated, almost like it is frozen in time. I don't think I've ever seen a pharmacy and a restaurant rolled into one.
We were greeted with huge smiles and fantastic service. Our reuben sandwich was excellent, and we were able to get one half of the sandwich with sauerkraut and the other half without. Great donuts, too!
Please give Bauder's a visit if you are in the area, and manage to catch them while they're open. Highly recommend!

A nice mom-and-pop shop that serves delicious and cheap doughnuts. Their honeydew doughnuts are amazing. With a light and airy texture and a sweet taste that lingers. All for only a buck! Plus the staff is super friendly and helpful.

The sandwiches are good and the price is right. The ice cream is second to none and they make cones, shakes, malts and sundaes too! Stop by and let Kim and Pam take care of you.

They are some of the best donuts in town. It was a rough time when Donut King shutdown but now they are back. Make sure you get there early as they often sell out of donuts.

The best place in Des Moines to get Donuts or Ice Cream!! Stop in and see my friend Ms. Robertson she knows what shes doing! She has been at this for over 3 decades now, she will be at the Iowa State Fair too! Selling her world famous delicious ice creams called the Peppermint Bars! I just ate 1 the other night! Im glad I didn't move back to Missouri without finding this neat restaurant 1st! Folks, u have to stop in and see her. She is on Ingersoll ave and University as well!

Wish the donuts were as good. They looked perfect but were a bit bland. Probably needed to change the oil in the fryer.

Wonderful little soda shop, like stepping back in time. Prices are very reasonable. Light lunch with soda, peppermint bar (big enough for two adults) and a scoop of fresh peach ice cream, all for $13 plus change, add on a top of course! Small menu of old favorite sandwiches and large selection of ice cream favorites. Do not over look this delightful place while visiting Des Moines!
