Roseland Apizza

Friday night at 4pm was a great time to hit up this cozy pizza joint. Small and quaint, the staff is very attentive and friendly. 3 adults and 2 infants (with a double stroller) squeezed into a booth comfortably. The menu isn't overwhelming with options like many restaurants but it has plenty to choose from. We chose the eggplant rollotini, Roseland special, pepperoni & onion, and the white spinach chicken prosciutto. Flavor burst from every bite! Our only major critique is that the toppings on the white pizza could have been a bit more chopped/finer. The pieces of chicken were quite large and in general weighed the pizza down and made the crust soggy. Char was minimal

My review of Roseland Apizza in Derby has been long overdue. I’ve seen so many pictures of their pizza which left me eager to try it! We ordered a large mozzarella pie with half house made sausage, a fresh shucked clam pizza, and my wife had a potato bacon and cheese pie. To start, don’t expect to be blown away by the atmosphere, it’s been it business since 1935 and looks like it could use a make over. The front of the house staff were friendly, we were sat right away and our server was on point. The cheese pie was worth the visit! Good quality creamy mozzarella, browned and bubbly. Tasty thin crisp crust with a perfect cook on the bottom. You do have to fold it to keep the slice from flopping, and some oil from the cheese will drip as you go in for a bite, which I personally love about a pizza. I give this pie a solid 8.5! The sausage was a good Italian sausage that tasted like they made it there. Very good flavor! The potato pie is not something I would go out of my way to order in any restaurant, my wife likes it. The potatoes tasted fresh, good cheese flavor accented with crispy fresh bacon baked in. The clam pizza was loaded with clams in every bite. My only criticism is that they had a bit of a fishy aftertaste. When I squeezed the charred lemon on it the flavor was much more palatable. Overall I would make the trip again for a cheese or cheese and sausage pie! Recommended!

Came down on a Tuesday with Mom for an early dinner around 4pm, only 2 ther tables were filled, so we grabbed a booth. The air conditioning felt great, the place was nice & clean too. Got the dinner specials, which was chicken parm & veal parm for $15 & $16, normally they are a little over $20. First came the salads & bread, which were very nice! Bread was warm, had a nice crust, and you could tell it's made there. The salad was a blend of lettuces with green, black, and red olives, cherry tomatoes, and shredded carrots, which was nice. Our dinners were very good, nice large fried cutlets pounded flat, with crispy breading, tangy sauce & lots of gooey cheese on top. The penne was cooked perfectly, and they make a good tomato sauce too. We both had take-out containers to bring home, and the service was fast and super friendly. There's a reason why this place has been such a gem all these years. Their pizza is legendary but don't think you have to get that all the time, their dinners are fantastic too!

I've tried most of the New Haven't pizza spots but none of them compare to Roseland. I got a simple pepperoni pizza that was hands down the best pizza I have ever had. It was cooked perfectly the taste was superb. I also had the veal parm that was better than any restaurant in the north end of Boston. All dinners come with a salad that is also spot on. We took their homemade bread home with us and made french toast that was delicious. I strongly recommend trying this wonderfully run family restaurant. You will be glad you did.
