Brunch was easily the best breakfast I've ever had. The Waffly Monte Cristo had several delicate, complimentary flavors. My husband said he would go back any time for his delicious Breakfast Burger. Mimosas, bloody marys, and warm chocolate cocktails were also unique and wonderful.

Delicious food. Especially the lobster and mushroom toast, roasted carrots, and pappardelle. Wonderful cocktails. Thoughtful wine list. Cozy atmosphere. Friendly, unhurried service. Best restaurant in Mid-Coast Maine. Can’t wait to go back.

A convivial yet cozy and romantic place with excellent food and super friendly service- I highly recommend Bred in the Bone.
My wife and I walked in early for a 7:30 dinner reservation and the place was bustling. We hoped they weren’t going to put us at the 2-top right in front of the entrance door and the hostess smiled and said, “don’t worry. We have a nice spot for you in just a couple of minutes - come wait for it at our bar”. The bar is in the back - an amber-lit romantic space with a great vibe. We ordered drinks after the bartender ( again-friendly, smiling, nice!) put 2 glasses of water in front of us. The table became ready and they said we’ll bring the drinks to the table. After a slight mixup with 2 different servers ( both -again - friendly and engaged and nice) we got our martini ( could have been colder but good) and wine.
The food was outstanding ( the lobster tartalle had a lot of lobster, appropriate for the price $42). The rigatoni was great ( though not hot enough) with an eggplant pesto. The gem salad was large and dressed right-on with a Caesar dressing. The Pemaquid sweets 1/2 doz oysters were spot on to start.
It was fun to watch the kitchen in action and the intricate work of the souls chef prepping the plates ( though they need better ventilation-even with both doors open in the place, it was smoky and a bit stuffy on this cool night).
The service down to the last person was what made this place , but the great food and atmosphere made it a near-home run (with a few minor tweaks, it’s a five-star experience). Highly recommend to locals and out-of-towers alike.

We eat at this neighborhood restaurant at least once a week, usually without a reservation at the bar or on the deck. I love the kind staff and delicious food. The chicken cacciatore and the seafood dishes are amazing. The pasta dishes are soul nourishing.

From the second we walked in, the floral arrangements and the smells, we knew we were going to have a good dinner. Service, amazing-thank you Jonathon for your recs!
We left with happy belly’s and the olive cake reminded me of my family in Italy and it legit brought me to tears 🥹
Highly recommend! Cheers to this great restaurant and team!

Eaten here several times now and the food has been consistently wonderful. Large proportions and very fairly priced for the quality and proportions. Service was great too. Even when very busy I was able to get a drink or my meal in reasonable manner. Great wines too. I highly recommend this venue for anyone visiting Mid-Coast Maine.

Lots of variety of food to choose from. The flavor paring is next level. We loved the hummus app to start. I was dreaming of a wood fired oven for this place. A specialty pizza would work well here imo. Loved the experience. We will be back.

Wow! Dinner at bred in the bone was delightful! So glad to have this addition to Damariscotta. The atmosphere is lovely and the food even better. We enjoyed a few appetizers, the highlight for me being the speck and prosciutto and the tuna crudo pictured below. After a great start to our meal we couldn’t help but to try a couple more appetizers and share an entree- all of which blew us away! Bold and unique flavors of the chicken cacciatore were unlike any chicken I’ve ever had. I tried the Robustini espresso martini and it was amazing! It was evidently made with great quality espresso which can be hard to find around the area. I will definitely be back to try other cocktails and another robustini of course! Service was great, staff was friendly and attentive, we felt very well taken care of. Can’t wait for my next visit!

Bred in the Bone is a welcome addition to Downtown Damariscotta. Get yourselves a reservation, stat!
I dined in the back room near the bar with my husband and two friends. We each ordered wine + a few snacks to share as well as mains. The aesthetic of the restaurant is charming and thoughtful, and feels cozy with its deep colors and exposed brick.
The wine list is great, the service is great, the food was GREAT. We enjoyed one of the seafood specials and the gnudi. It was a lovely evening and we’ll definitely be back!
