Grass Rootes

We just happened to visit during Restaurant Week! An app, main course, and dessert for $35. The atmosphere was lovely, live music too. I didn’t take a picture of my main course but I got a duck leg and it didn’t disappoint. I live in DC, so my friends and I really enjoyed eating here and visiting this small town!

This place is great. Perfect staff that know the menu as well as Andrew the owner who is so involved with the people. Talks as if you have been friends for years. I noticed that the cooks were there to bring out some food rather than let it sit back in the kitchen. I even noticed Andrew which in my personal opinion was a very welcoming and inviting individual bussing tables. This place gets a 5 star from me because they show that there is no I in team and the food.... can't get any better than this.

This is late, but it's better than no response. I came with my French class for a Field trip in high school and I loved it. The food was amazing and the staff where so nice. I would also say that the owner was a super nice guy he told us the history of the building and I think he also noticed I was Nervous because he went out of his way to ease me into different conversations until I was relaxed. Oh another thing I just remembered was that they had beautiful French music playing and the decor was amazing.

Hubby and I live over an hour away. We used to live close to Culpeper and we had intended to go somewhere else that we used to enjoy, but they were too busy. So, we went for a walk and found this gem! The service is unparalleled. The owner, Andrew Ferlazzo, makes you feel like family. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The food was great (Sunday brunch buffet), and the ambience had a relaxed, jazzy vibe. We'll be more than happy to make that drive again to try some food on the menu and enjoy some live entertainment.

Would I drive an hour plus to dine at Grass Rootes again, Hell Yeah! I've frequented many restaurants, but this was by far my best experience in service, food, and atmosphere. The owner is very friendly and walks around to make everyone feel welcome. The food was one of the best I've had, very fresh. Each plate was an explosion of goodness in my mouth. 100% recommend. And get one of the specials

Popped out to Culpeper for the weekend and dropped in here on a Friday night. Live music and incredible dinner specials. Had red snapper and the gumbo and it was incredible. The owner is super active inside, checking in on tables and making sure folks are taken care of — the service was great and the food was a DELICIOUS find in a place that most may consider off the beaten path.

Incredible food, wine and ambiance. Attentive waitstaff and management to make our experience exceptional in this venue. Food was awesome - crispy brussel sprouts were the best ever! Prime rib, Ny Strip and mushroom ravioli with shrimp were main course favorites and desert…caramel espresso cheesecake…totally worthy!
