Northern Roots Cafe

Visited this quaint cafe today. Just missed the breakfast cutoff by 30 minutes and wanted The Studly breakfast sandwich. Instead I ordered The New Yorker with the East African Cucumber Salad side. Both were extremely tasty and left me feeling quite satisfied. Definitely going back and making this a regular stop of mine!

This is a new restaurant so I'm sure they will be open to the feedback to get it right. I was excited about the unusual and healthy menu options that were taped to the window so I stepped inside. Overall impression of the aesthetic was lacking. You only get one chance to make a first impression so the place should have been complete before opening. For the location and clientele you can generate I think you need to step it up a big notch. Upon ordering a drink they did not have hot tea but do offer coffee. I was the only one in for lunch so I was surprised that my Panini took so long to make. They were out of the cheese that was supposed to be on top. An apology for either was not given. My chicken panini was good. The carrot slaw was unexpectedly a little spicy and has a flavor that was too unusual for me to enjoy. I ate only two bites. It may be an acquired taste but I found it to be terrible. I was never asked how my food was. After receiving my food no one followed up. I was not thanked for coming in. Again, I was the only patron and multiple employees were present. I think they need to work on customer engagement. I may try again in a few months. Hopefully, this feedback does not upset them as much as motivates them on what they need to work on. Seriously, I'm not trying to be awful. I hate seeing dreams unrealized.
