This place is small but amazing!!! They have a small menu but all the delicious basics. Don't have chocolate chip pancakes but the blueberry ones were perfect. What's also fun is you can watch them cook your breakfast. They do it right in front of you and it was fun watching her make the pancakes and French toast.

One of the best small town diner experiences! I loved the delicious food! The menu is small, but it just means they cook what they cook better than everyone else around. The two women that run the place strike up good conversations with all the patrons. We spoke a little about the history of the town and then they gave us impeccable directions to visit the falls. This diner is a must visit for anyone driving through Cohoes!

Literally the cutest little hole in the wall with magnificent food. Good old fashioned breakfasts that are to die for. Don't bring a party of people because the establishment itself isn't big-but definitely a great spot to bring a friend one morning.

Best diner in the Capitol District. Small town diner with the regulars. The 2 ladies are great at taking care of business. Food excellent and coffee as well. I always make an effort to drop in...

This was the best experience that my wife and I have ever had while visiting a diner while out of town. The food was quick and delicious, while the atmosphere was something out of a movie: intimate, friendly, and fun. I loved my omelette and would recommend this place to anyone.

Uncle John's provides visitors with the ultimate culinary experience. You can sit in the kitchen. Just watch Jackie make up breakfast after breakfast on the grill without a wasted motion. Quick hasn't spoiled the quality. I know my father, Edward William Juntunen, would have given the special two thumbs up: two eggs, toast, ham with American fries for five fifty. Coffee served up in generous mugs. Father knew short order cuisine. Father cruised the diner griddle culture of Eight Mile and Gratiot in the fifties in a Nash Rambler. Driving Detroit steel looking for Detroit grub. He sought the thrill of the grill. I sat on the counter next to him all to few a time. Jackie has twenty five years at the grill, so her poetry in motion is poetry known by heart. "Where do you find those beautiful sausages"? "From my meat guy. Sadly, my meat guy in Latham passed away. Luckily, I found a meat guy in Troy after a long, long search". "Mind your own business, Bob" reads a sign clipped to the order line. Bob has breakfast daily at Uncle John's and he asked plenty of questions during this visit. Unflappable, Missy the waitress reminds the regular, "Mind your own business, Bob. Here's your sign". Missy points. Bob roared with laughter. "Hey, I could take my business to Babe's", protests Bob. You can kiss them grits at Mel's diner. You can have anything you want at Alice's restaurant. But you can't ask too many pesky questions at Uncle John's. How I asked more than twenty questions, all answered in a kindly voice by a woman tending a full, all day full grill is beyond me. Fifteen customers and eight orders await on the line and no one is unhappy. Jackie and John began the diner twenty five years ago. Missy and Jackie have carried on the business alone since their husbands passed half a decade ago. One regular just calls this "John's Diner" because uncle would be unfamiliar for him to say. If Thelma and Louise had a diner, it would look just like Uncle John's.
