Modern Grill

Okay so it isn't much for the eyes and the staff is friendly but no nonsense. It is a diner, diner. They make the best slightly oily (yep, I said it. It isn't a crime) rare, double cheeseburgers with grilled onions and mayo in the city. Sometimes you want just that kind of burger. And sometimes I have them throw an egg, over medium, on it (not ashamed). Just thinking of that juicy burger makes me salivate! There's an older man there who is a treasure. I have had their breakfasts and found them to be hearty, filling, and very reasonably priced.

Favorite go to for a quick pickup of some comfort grill/diner food. The cheddar cubes are sooo good! I can never remember the name of the lady who is always working, but she is the absolute best! Always so kind and friendly, and always makes sure to go above and beyond when packing my food to make sure that I have everything I need. Even if it wasn't an option while ordering!

Went here when I first moved to the neighborhood. Food was great at an ever greater price. Reminded me of Waffle House aka my favorite diner. But then covid hit and I consistently saw staff and customers not wearing masks at all. That’s just irresponsible and gross. Nowadays I see that as equivalent to not washing hands. There goes my hangover breakfast plans :/

Best breakfast that I had in a very long time and everything cooked the way I like it! This was done by one person who took my order , cooked it and brought it to my table... not many restaurants can do that with only one person. The restaurant isn’t fancy and overpriced but it’s good home cooking that speaks for it self!! I went back again for lunch and my burger was cooked to perfection by my standards and waitress was amazingly nice and cheerful!! My restaurant of choice now.

I lived about two blocks away from this hole in the wall for over a year before I found out I was living next to arguably the best value diner in Chicago. Steak and eggs that will rival anything in the city for eleven dollars, and their omelettes are all excellent as well. Great diner coffee, great service, and never a wait (because no one seems to realize it exists).
