Delicious but truly expensive. $25 for a Reuben and 2 Latkes. The serving sizes are smaller than average. The quality of the food is really lovely, ingredients are great and it's not greasy at all while still being very tasty. Just not worth it in my opinion. I'm sad there's more and more of these increasingly expensive places in Charlottesville that are so common. We could really use some solid, affordable food around here but given the ability of a high number of people to afford these outrageous prices, the trend of people prioritizing profits above all seems to be par for the course. I think I'll stop by Nosh once a year but places like Holly's Diner and Revolutionary Soup will be my go to.

I've tried all the meats and everything was super tasty. The combo Reuben on rye is my favorite. The service is really friendly every time I've visited but it is a bit pricey so not somewhere I'd be a regular.

Good...just plain good! Big sandwiches, yes. Fast service, yes. And the pickles are awesome!!! Only wish they had outdoor seating.

Wow! The food was wonderful. The service was kind, caring and professional. The corned beef was so tender and tasty. The salads (chicken, egg, and tuna) were superb. French fries and kettle chips so good they would be addictive!
My first time - I will be going back often. 🤗👍👏

I ate at Modern Nosh about two weeks ago. Some things may have changed because they had just opened the store. - The Reuben Sandwich was probably one of the top 3 or 4 Reubens I've ever had, for real! The chips were literally the best chips I've ever had. It was overall an excellent lunch. Legit 9/10. Be aware, it is a touch on the pricey side. Be prepared to pay in the neighborhood of $16/$17 for a sandwich and chips.

Purchased a Reuben combo sandwich and a matzo ball soup. For $25, it's disappointing. The Reuben was a typical size but nothing stood out to make it more. The soup was bland -- no seasoning whatsoever. The chips that come with the sandwich were fine -- nice, thick cut potato chips. I'm not writing this place off entirely and plan on going back for breakfast.

Great experience! The place is informal, great sunlight, and lots of seating. Counter service was friendly and responded well to my questions about what to order. Ended up with the Reuben over Latkes...so good! The latkes were crispy and well seasoned on their own. I liked that the thousand island dressing was on the side. For the price, I wanted a bit more corned beef but other than that, no complaints! I will be back!

Opening day! The first Jewish deli in downtown Charlottesville. Order at the front counter, then sit down wherever you want. Seats around 50 people if every seat is taken.
Sandwiches are very big. I tried the Rachel (turkey on marble rye, Russian dressing, and Swiss cheese). Tasty! Would like just a bit more dressing on it (sure I could have asked). Served with chips and a few cucumber slices.
The menu is extensive, and I'm sure I'll be back to try more. They nearly sold out of Matzo Ball Soup in the first hour they were open. I can't wait to try that.
Prices are a little high, but the owner (very friendly) donates the profits to local charities. More info on their website. Also, if you aren't a big eater you could easily split a sandwich between two.
They also sell a variety of things at the deli - including delicious halvah.
