Yuuuum! We ordered the Granja bowl and added Chimichurri chicken (also removed peppers/mushrooms) and the chorizo platter with mac n cheese and green beans. The Granja bowl was really good, it felt very healthy and was very filling despite it looking small. The chicken was very moist as well. The chorizo was my favorite, it had a nice subtle crisp on the outside and wasn’t spicy. The green beans were heavenly but a little heavy on the salt. I read mixed reviews on the Mac n cheese but still decided to get it (the other sides were weird/boring) and I was very disappointed. 100% not worth the $1 upcharge and definitely not worth $6 as a side. I’m a big mac n cheese fan and like other reviews noted, they were lacking flavor. I couldn’t even taste the cheese, they were very bland— even pepper didn’t help. I wish I did double green beans, the photos make the Mac n cheese look really good. The rooftop was really cute and covered, they have a mini bar up there as well. Lastly, Emily was the best waitress! She was so kind, attentive, not overbearing and gave us some recommendations for brunch in the area as well!

First time here by chance walking by. Glad we stopped in. The chef made our drinks, explained the menu and was very welcoming. The dishes that he recommended were just right for what we wanted, something light and relatively healthy. They have an outdoor patio upstairs, not the best views but it is covered in case of rain. Parking could be an issue in this neighborhood, there is a lot for paid parking a couple of blocks away off the Plaza. Ride share so you can have fun and enjoy other places in the hood. Other than parking, I would like to see an expansion of the local beers available and add some Rye Whiskey to the bar. We hope to visit again and try some of the other items on the menu.

Cozy quiet little restaurant with good food. I had a mimosas with smoked chipotle wing's they have these garlic mashed potatoes in gravy that is 8 out of 10 portion was a little small but packed so much flavor. Loved the ambience of the restaurant. They also have an upstairs portion with more seating. I will be returning.

Just moved to Plaza Midwood in Charlotte NC and I’ve been dying to try Coaltranes. We went on a Thursday night and they had $4 glasses of wine but I had a 22 ounce beer instead. They only had one server but she was absolutely incredible. We shared a bunch of things including the jalapeño queso, the maple chipotle wings, the flank steak and the chorizo. Each main course came with two sides so we had the corn casserole, the green beans, the mac & cheese and a salad. Everything was really delicious. The mac & cheese could’ve used a little more flavor. Will definitely try the rotisserie chicken next time.

Tried them for the first time today, ordered take out on wings. I swear these were probably the best wings I have ever had! Cooked just right! I tried dry rub and the maple chipotle flavor. Me personally I love that slight burnt flavor on a wing and they know how to do it correctly without overdoing it. I can’t wait to go back!

Came on a Monday night, my partner and I were some of the only people there. The service was really nice and helpful with the best way to order for two. We ordered the stuffed avo based on the reviews, will definitely order again! Both of our meals were perfect, and the red lentils were so tasty!!! Also that was the best banana pudding we’ve ever had. Edit: Forgot to mention how CHEAP our total came to for ordering two entrees, upgrading a side to a full portion , AND ordering dessert.
