From the seafood manicotti to the seafood mariscotta to the white chocolate blueberry cheesecake or the maple creme brulee....this restaurant in Castleton Vermont gets 5 Golden Forks to quote my good friend Angelo !! The service was excellent and very interactive with everyone... I highly recommend if you are ever in thethe area....oh and by the way, the salad & holmemade bread bar are incredible !!

I had been here years ago and had a miserable experience but decided to give them another shot. The service and the salad bar are good but I ordered a surf and turf which is a petite steak and scallops. The scallops where good. The steak, which I admittedly ordered medium rare, came out blackened on the outside and raw, I mean raw, on the inside. I waited about 10 minutes to let my server know I would need it to be cooked a bit more. I did say, “I know I ordered medium rare but....” she replied “yeah that’s blue!” She was kind enough to leave the rest of my meal so I could enjoy it while hot! Too late! Then brought back the steak more charbroiled on the outside and slightly more cooked on the inside. When asked how it was I said “well,I am not going to send it back again but I also won’t be eating it!” She did offer a cup of coffee or scoop of ice cream. Which is I’m sure all she could offer being just the server. Again the service was good but the food, not so much.

The food was traditional American fare, friendly staff and the salad bar was great. I would go back just for the salad bar, but the prime rib was excellent. It felt like a community dining destination, there were couples of all ages and lots of larger parties too. The bar area had a singer warming up as we were leaving. We would like to have stayed but wanted to be back to watch sunset from our hotel porch.
