Anjappar

I usually wait like to visit a local restaurant 2-3 times to give an accurate review. Visited here several times in the last 6 months due to our repeatedly good experience. There is no scarcity of Indian restaurants in RTP and this place stands out amongst them. Their menu is a good mix veg and non veg dishes. My husband loved both the chicken dishes he ordered though the anjappar chicken could use a bit of less ghee :) The USP (ultimate selling point) for us are their south indian appetizer and dosa platters. The sambar and chutney quantities and quality are better than most Indian restaurants in the area. Idli, medu vada, and ghee roast dosa are some of our favorites. We ordered filtered coffee during a visit and were somewhat disappointed but when we let the manager know during out next visit it definitely met more than our expectations. Overall we will keep returning here for our weekday meals and weekend takeouts. Tip: This place is extremely busy on the weekends hence we prefer takeouts instead of dining in. Also factor some waiting time since the orders don’t come out quickly but the wait is worth it!

Absolutely the best Indian restaurant in Raleigh. And no wonder it's so busy. As a South Indian, the food tasted authentic, home made, truly lovingly made. Will be coming back here again and again and again. Already been here thrice in a month. Customer service was great, especially Mr. Braganza who was very pleasant and helpful. Decor was nice (paintings were interesting), music was pleasant.

Food is tasty. We ordered take out. First time, we ordered 2 curries we got them in the same big container. Second time we ordered the same curries, we got one in a smaller container for the same price. You can see the photo for comparison. Thanks for the feedback. I ordered the same Boneless chicken masala Curry twice. First time, it came in the 24oz container. Second time it came in 16oz container.

Definitely the best place for Lunch buffet after Corona! Been to almost all south india restaurants that offer buffet, this place definitely come in the top 3. Wide variety of dishes on Sunday lunch buffet. Another important observation is that they constantly filling the items. One area to improve in my opinion is desert section 😊

Worst place ever now. Prices have gone up, service quality has gone down. Last 4 orders I am missing items, key items to the dishes we ordered. We as a family have ordered over 30 times from here over the last few years and truly loved it. Not sure what management is doing here or if it was sold - do not order food from here. Many other better places in Cary Morrisville area. Attached is a picture of the dosa I received with no sumbar or chutney. I had to literally throw it in the oven to be somewhat edible. I call them and all I get is sorry we messed up. No refund, no order replacement. Unreal. Never will I give this restaurant my business.

Good Tasting Food but nickel and diming you! We were 6 friends and decided to meet up at Anjappar for most of us it was our first time. It was Saturday evening, We ate Dosa’s there and ordered many of us ordered more food to go. I live 40 min away from Anjappar. Dosa’s were good and tasty, wife had Mysore masala Dosa, I had Andrea Kara Masala Dosa, this one has red chiles I like my food spicy and with a lot of heat. The accompanying Sambar was one of the Tastier Sambar at South Indian restraint we have had. It was on Point! Very tasty. For To take out, I had the Chettinad Chicken, wife had Whole Pomfret Tavares Fry. I must say both of the items were full of wonderful flavor. After speaking to other friends, they agree, food was flavorful and delicious. I will order to take out again from Anjappar. (Also of note I ordered my chicken dish Very Spicy and it was not at all spicy) Now for why I took one star off, and on Nickel and diming… on there menu they charged you for extra Sambar and they charged you $2 for cut onion with slice of lemon. I mean really, what South Indian restaurant charges for Sambar when you are having dosa. And charging for few wedges of cut onions and lemon? I mean for majority of Indian population, Indian food is not compleat if it is not accompanied by onion, green chilies and lemon wedges on the side. Also there quality of basmati rice was not up to par with there tasty dishes. I have not had sub-par basmati rice, it sort of ruined the taste of the dish. If you are making quality food then everything should be of quality. The servers were nice, kind but they were all over the place, we asked for extra Sambar with our Dosa and it took forever to come I had to ask 3 times and I was 75% done with my Dosa. So the severs are nice, but not attentive. Also we places our to go order at 6:27pm and got it at 8:15pm. I understand it’s COVID and help is at needed every so no complaints on the lateness on our dine in order which took 45 min and to go order which took almost 2 hr. I just stated it so my other fellow customers can order well in advance and understand that Anjappar is trying and doing but at a slow pace at the moment. You will enjoy their dishes, my next dish I will try is Anjappar chicken masala. Update: finished the leftover Chettinad Chicken, enjoyed it very much. Very good tasting food even as a leftover. Nice.
