Dragonfly

Would always recommend the dragonfly in popley to everyone who wants a nice family lunch or dinner out or even for a few drinks. The atmosphere is always the best. Even better when the football is on as the atmosphere is electric and everyone really comes together to support their team. The manager is just awesome and always up for a laugh and a joke. Can't praise the head chef enough he is just amazing always resolving any issues and making sure all allergies are well taken care of. Could not ask for a better pub/restaurant. Also a dog friendly inside restaurant and bar as well as a garden at the rear with plenty of water available and even their own doggy menu.

We were greeted by a lovely lady at front of house who showed us to our table. We were informed that we needed to order at the bar, the food was delicious and the service was friendly and efficient. The man who took our orders was very helpful and even gave us a box to take our leftover food home! Lovely Sunday roast and would recommend to anyone!

We thought we’d give it a try, and had our dog with us - and I am so glad we did! The greeting we got from the lovely manager was amazing. So welcoming, even tho fully booked still accommodated us (above and beyond), all of the staff welcomed us and the dog. The table was immaculate, toilets so clean, the park is well maintained and safe for the kids, the layout of the pub is fab! And the food…. Well… amazing. £11 for a carvery, and was stunning. Have loads of meat, no scrimping on it, fantastic food, well cooked, chef was great and served quick. It was also really well organised. You can see the manager runs the pub well, and has high standards. Clean / tidy / good service. Perfect temp, food and atmosphere. Will be going next Sunday with FIL. Dogs welcome inside now!! And owner supports rescue dogs.

Treated my family for a meal here and what fantastic place! The menu choices were better than most places, the food was bought out promptly and cooked to perfection. The chief was happy to help with dietary options. Staff were so friendly! I'll definitely come back and recommend this place to anyone in the area 😊

Went with my elderly father and Gordon and the team were just amazing. He has Alzheimer’s and gets very confused, couldn’t remember what he had ordered and argued when they brought the food out. Rather than tell him he was wrong they took away the food and cooked what he thought he had asked for without embarrassing him. I am so grateful as this is such a difficult time for us to adjust to. When he asked for an ale Gordon brought him the non alcoholic ale in a pint glass so he wouldn’t know. Such a Star. We will definitely use this Dragonfly for all our future visits

This evening my friend and I decided to go to the Dragon Fly as we wanted to try the carvery. On arrival we were warmly welcomed by the staff on duty, which was lovely. However, we were then advised that the carvery was being served from the kitchen and not front of house, due to the fact that the restaurant was going through a quiet period and they wanted to cut down on waste. (I completely understand this but it's not really a carvery in that case - so we decided to order from menu instead). I ordered the 'surf and turf' and my friend ordered a extremely large 'mixed grill'. When the food came my steak was not very hot, so I asked them to reheat it on the grill. (I could have been because it was medium rare - but I always have medium rare and have not had that issue before.). However, this did not put me off the food at all and the food was lovely! Especially the crispy chips. My friends mixed grill looked amazing and he really enjoyed his food as well. So all in all the food was amazing and thoroughly enjoyed everything on the plates. The only reason I knocked off a star was because of the above, I would have given it 4.5 stars if it was possible. We would both like to go back and eat there again. Also the restaurant had more than enough parking, was clean, tidy, very smart inside and out. The toilets were also clean! Top marks for the staff the the appearance of the premises. As a bonus it also has an electric car charging point, to give the car a top up while you eat :-) Thank you so much for an almost perfect evening. Well done to all of you at the Dragon Fly.
