Pizza Express

the service here on Valentine's Day was absolutely fantastic, the staff were very warm and inviting and the food was amazing. During our meal a member of public came in (not a customer) he was very abusive to the staff and they handled it very well, the assistant manager and Michaela. Special mention to Hayden, Niki and Michaela for their fantastic table service as well.

Booking is a must. We tried to walk in early on a Tuesday evening and it was full (I recommend Giovanni's if you can't get a table here) and returned the following evening with a booking. As Pizza Express often do they have chosen a delightful old building. The staff are friendly and helpful. Food was served promptly to the high standard I expect from Pizza Express. High chairs are available and because the restaurant is small, staff will happily store push chairs out the back. Please 'like' my review if you found it helpful, thank you.

Some very good aspects and some not so great ones. Always been a fan of this place, and the one in Exeter. It seems, sadly, like it's gone downhill slightly. Straight off the bat I wanna say the food is amazing, but as you'll read, the service leaves a bit to be desired. I tried to book a table the night before (Thursday) and went through the usual process I always have. When it came to pressing the "Book" button... It just did nothing. I tried on my laptop, I tried logging out, but nothing worked. So, the only logical thing would be try again the next morning. Unfortunately, this failed again. So, at 11:30am, I rang up. I asked to book a table and she was very condescending as if I wasn't meant to phone them? She said she'd get someone who "knew how to deal with that" and then I quickly had my details taken and was rushed off the phone. We went in later (me and my gf) and waited at the door to be seated as we always have. Then, we were served and I said I had a table booked; they looked confused and then after 5 minutes said "just sit at any of those 2-seat tables." I mean, a bit disorganised but I wasn't going to be annoyed at having a choice of table? We sat down and after 5 minutes a very polite waitress said we'd have to move tables as someone was booked in at ours; she was apologetic and i knew it was her colleague who made the mistake. Our food came shortly after ordering and it was very good. I had the Vegan Pollonesca and my date had the Cannelloni. Looked great, mine tasted great and I was happy with the service after we had sat down. Then, the dessert came. I don't exaggerate here when I say it was probably the best cheesecake I've had. I cannot recommend it enough. Overall, a nice experience; and with a bit more staff training; a perfect one.
