This is probably my 12th time eating here and it just gets better! How I love this place. The fish so fresh - caught by Dave (proprietor) himself. He finds so many ways to prepare Kingfish - a local catch - from down deep. The tempura batter so light and crispy keeping the fish itself moist and delicious. The grilled variety so tasty and the capaccio and sashimi - can never get enough! Then to cap it all - theres now amazing desserts alongside the infamous lemon curd tart - pastry to die for and go to heaven! Panacotta that melts in the mouth and then banana and date pudding -good job you can then go snorkelling with Dave and his scooters to burn it all off! Awesome food simply done, awesome people, in an incredible place! Please don’t stop doing your stuff Glenys and Dave!

What an amazing place to eat when visiting Lord Howe. If you want authenticity and experience dining with a islander himself, this is the place to go. Dave does amazing dishes with the freshest fish and the service from the friendly staff makes you feel right at home. Doubled up with some great snorkelling spots that Dave can show you, greenback is a must to do. Thanks for the great food and excellent wild life.

The food here is honestly fantastic. Authentic and eco-friendly, you eat here what has been caught by David. If you want fancy and upmarket with an a la carte selection that’s simply been shipped from Sydney then don’t go here. You could also argue you may as well stay main land for that anyway! Never have I tasted such incredible Tempura. I compare all fish I eat mainland to this place.

Awesome place, people & food. Starters are gorgeous - smoked fish aranchini, sashimi and the capacio all delicious. Love the freshness of the fish mains and the tempura batter is incredibly light, fresh and crispy. But capping in all has to be Glenys’s lemon tart. The shortest pastry and most flavoursome lemon you can imagine. Thank you Greenback.

$49 for fish and chips disguised as ‘tempura’ plus a dessert was a bit rich. The only fish on the menu was kingfish on 3 menu items out of 4. I was surprised kingfish was not on dessert listing. Not much fish choice for a fish ‘restaurant’. Mains arrived 10 minutes apart.

Very bland and tasteless food. Ordinary service. Don’t my know the difference between tempura fish and fish and chips. Glorified kiosk food. Extremely expensive. Mains served at different times at the same table, my husband finished his meal by the time mine was served. Do not recommend 🤢

Very expensive for average fried food served in a system that could be compared with feeding time at the zoo. Lovely owners tho who just need a bit of advice.... Like why bother catching suburb fresh fish only to adulterate it in batter?
