China Fortune

We're new to the area and have been trying to find our new go-to Chinese place. This is by far the best we've had! Everything we got was delicious. They have some interesting menu choices beyond the standard Chinese take-out that I can't wait to try more of. The prices are fantastic. Will definitely be ordering here regularly.

From the time we walked in the door, geeted by Sandy Fan, until we left very satisfied with our lunch that left us looking forward to our next visit, this was a good experience! Unfortunately I did not take pictures until our main courses arrived, so you won't see a picture of our soups or the vegetable egg rolls. Both of which were wonderful. There were 3 of us, so we tried each of the soups offered: wonton, egg drop, and hot and sour. My favorite (as it's what I ordered) was the egg drop soup. It was so good. So evident that they use fresh ingredients at this restaurant. It had celery, carrot, green onion and egg in the hearty broth. The vegetable egg roll was very good - not greasy. And the sauces they bring you to dip them in - sweet and sour, spicy garlic and hot mustard - they make those so they are fresh when brought to your table (we heard her making them). Main courses shown in the pictures are Moo Goo Gai Pan, Chicken with Broccoli, and Cilantro Chicken. All were so good! But I've got to say - the Cilantro Chicken dish was the winner with chicken, cilantro, jalapeno, and garlic. Overall a great lunch experience! We will be back! Thank you for a wonderful lunch!

Edit: Still the best Chinese food in Athens. Got strong armed into trying a couple of the others and the fam and I all agreed, China Fortune is the best. The freshest, the best sauces and most authentic (if you care about that). One of the top 3 places all my friends who visit from out of town want to return to every time. By FAR the best choice for Chinese Food in Athens. Unless you like food poisoning. Owned and operated by long time Athens resident and featuring a great traditional menu. Sometimes the servers are new. Have patience. The food is awesome.

I was in Athens yesterday and walked in to order takeout. It was made on the spot and was delicious. The restaurant appears to be closed to all but takeout, but I saw no sign saying this. They have modified hours of 12-9. There is no working online presence. Their Facebook page was last updated in 2016. Both Facebook and Google have links to a website and an "order online" button, but both are non-functioning - they go to a non-functioning website that is clearly not operated by the restaurant. So absent any other information, I'm assuming that they are strictly takeout and you can only order in person or by calling them.
