I’ve been going to Avalanche Pizza for 14 years and they absolutely the best pizza I’ve ever had. I don’t live in Athens anymore, but anytime I come back to visit I have to get a pizza from Avalanche. The basil pesto and jalapeño dipping sauces are also fantastic. Anytime pizza comes up in conversation I talk about Avalanche and how much I miss being able to order from there anytime. Glad to see that they are still going strong and surprised (but pleased) they opened up the Slice House.

They can usually make a good pizza but they have gone down hill recently. I've got specialty pizzas with under cooked ingredients if they arent straight up missing
For example I got the steak and potato pizza with undercooked potatoes and all the steak was clumped up in a few spots making it gross and slimey. Another time I got the Cuban pizza but they forgot the pulled pork and since I hadn't eaten all day I just ate it since it was almost midnight

Get the soylent green!! Oh my goodness, never have broccoli and spinach been in such harmony! My husband got pepperoni and cheese... still good but wow, the green!!

This is the best pizza I’ve ever had. The crust is delicious, there is just enough delicious sauce, and the toppings are sublime. I love the rainbow veggie and the cheese. Since we live farther away it is convenient to get the take and bake pizzas and bake them at home. Highly recommend this pizza!

I heard a lot about this pizza place before coming to Athens. And I have to say this pizza is REALLY good. Nice soft crust with a nice outer crunch, generous toppings and cheeses, not a lot of oil, and a lot of personal touch to the menu.
This place definitely prides itself on the variety of specialized pizzas and it really does it well.
If you ever find yourself driving through or visiting give this place a try!

What a wonderful surprise that my Daughter and (future Son in Law) brought home 2 pizzas for dinner, BTW we live 98 miles from Athens, Ohio restaurant.
This was our first Avalanche Pizza we ever had, and we are serious pizza connoisseurs. We found that this is the best pizza we ever had and we have had pizza from hundreds of Pizzerias over a combined 172 years.

Love Avalanche Pizza! This is the hometown favorite. They don't have a lot of vegan options for cheap, but they make up for it with every option in between. Slightly pricey but the quality is amazing. Order online for the best options, and theyre so so so good!

Look this place is just awesome!! Hands down one of the BEST local food places in town, using local ingredients AND with great customer service. Slight mess up on our order, and Avalanche happily sent out a replacement pizza. Thanks for the awesome food and service Avalanche!!
