Tlaloc

My family enjoys every excuse to go to Tlaloc, and I hadn’t even realize my original review for them never posted. I’m posting pictures from a dine-in experience a month ago and a to-go experience this week. You’ll notice an abundance of chimichangas. Pork is my favorite, but the steak is also well done. I usually go with a shrimp dish, so I like the quesadilla, the cocktail, and the seafood fajitas, which also include squid and fish. Unlimited horchatas is certainly a way to my heart as well. My kids tend to eat the basic quesadilla and fries. There are so, so many things on the menu though that it can definitely be overwhelming. Go anyways. Look at pictures. Ask for recommendations. They are also almost always packed, but we have always been able to find parking, even at the far end of their side gravel lot. I recommend trying them out. Always a good time.

I know this place has a lot of good reviews, but don't believe any of them. My husband and I visited this place today for lunch after reading an article on it and reading reviews. We were extremely unhappy with all aspects of this restaurant. First off, the wait was extremely long and there was no clear direction on what to do to be seated. We waited in line while others just came in and seated themselves. Once we were seated, it took forever for someone to bring out chips (which were hard and stale) and salsa (which was fire cracker hot). Both bowls for the salsa were dirty with remnants of food on them. When the waitress finally came over again we reported that the bowls were both dirty and she snatched them from my hands and didn't apologize or anything. Also, there was someone wildly sweeping the floor and under customers chairs and everything. I had to ask her not to sweep near me because dust was coming off the floor. The tables were being cleaned with a damp rag and no disinfectant spray which in my opinion just spreads germs. There was no social distancing or mask requirement either. My husband attempted to order some kind of whole fish but was discouraged from ordering it by being told told it would take 20-30 minutes. He ordered the chicken fajitas instead and I order the number 19, fried quesadilla. It took the food a lifetime to come out (at least 20 minutes) and we did not like it at all. Both of our orders were chicken based and the chicken was dry, chunky and had not taste. The fried quesadilla had some type of thick batter inside of it which just didn't go down well at all. After a few bites we let the waitress know that this was our first time and that we just didn't like the food at all. She offered to bring a menu for us to order something else but we were almost late for another engagement. She then offered a discount but stated that there was nothing she could do about the fried quesadilla because that's just how it comes. Once we went to check out the cashier didn't say thank you, we hope you'll give us another try or anything. She was in fact very rude! I felt like the entire meal should have been taken off the bill because it was obvious that we didn't eat it. If I could give this place 0 stars I would.

I was driving through Athens and hit find me a restaurant. This place popped up so we stopped in. Love the atmosphere love the old couple that run the place. It was great authentic Mexican food. And if you’re looking for something spicy ask him to bring you some of the fresh habanero sauce. It will light you up both directions. Lol.
