Fossil Wine Bar

Amazing wine bar! Great service, delicious wines, meads, beers, and sake (yes, between the 4 of us we tried each category!). The staff and owners are knowledgeable and very friendly. Even if you’re new to certain things, they will help suggest anything you might like...and are usually spot on. We’re only in town for the weekend but this is definitely a must stop at stop for us now.

🦖 Fossil wine bar is truly and amazing find. Especially if you dig wine! Not sure how I originally heard about the wine bar and when I saw all the fun things they were doing and unique take on wine and sharing I knew I had to go. The bar is right off of the main city plaza and a really nice place tucked it downtown. When you go in there is a giant fossil of a dinosaur on the wall and you know you are in the right place. The owners Paul and Anita greet you with a friendly smile and feeling of welcomeness. When you look around there are usually a number of groups and couples looking relaxed and in great conversation. The bar specializes in hard to find smaller producer wines both local and from special wine regions. Looking at the menu you can tell it was thoughtfully crafted and curated. Paul is happy to share his thoughts or suggestions for what to try. Pro tip: they have pho noodles across the street and this place does not mind ordering and brining in or having them deliver if they do. Had noodles and some mead last time I was in and very happy. Places with this kind of local pub, wine bar, and great people are hard to find and can find my self wanting to come back soon. Stop in and try it. You won’t be sorry. We stopped in after having dinner on a Monday night. The owner Paul Zuniga was very helpful and let us try out some wines based on our interests before settling on buying a full glass or bottle. He is very friendly and has a broad knowledge of wine. His inventory is unusual and creatively curated. Anyone visiting the wineries in the Paso Robles region might enjoy an evening at Fossil in Atascadero, since it is a great little town to see on its own. We had a fun time and thank Paul for being so hospitable.

The thing I like best about Fossil is the availability of not only really good wine, but interesting beer, mead and other beverages. Everything is reasonably priced and there is always the opportunity to try something new. Paul and Anita are knowledgeable hosts and will happily educate if asked without any snobby overtones. All in all a great place to relax and socialize.

Had a great time here on opening night. Great selection of smaller winery wines. I like that everything is available by the glass and bottle and the glass price is exactly 1/4 of the bottle price. This means you can try different things without committing to a bottle and it’s the same price. If wine isn’t your thing or you’re in the mood for something else, they’ve got beer, sake, cider, and mead too. I’ll be back soon!

I am so impressed with Fossil Wine Bar! The contractor let me take a sneak peak the other day. The place is beautiful! I absolutely love the decor and am so happy to see such a great place going into Atascadero. Entrada is really changing for the better with all of these new restaurants and bars going in.
