Luella's Bar-b-que

I’m new to the area and stumbled across Luella’s as I was looking for a place to grab dinner. The staff were extremely friendly and took time to tell me about all of their sauces. They even suggested that I try them all which I did. The food was great and plentiful! Too much for me to eat, so I took about half home. I ordered the pulled pork, collard greens, and fried okra. Everything was great. I’ll definitely be back.

We were in Biltmore Park and could smell the BBQ wafting from outside, and were drawn to it. We went inside and ordered, and were prompted to tip during ordering before sitting down. While sitting, a couple of other people brought us our food and refilled our drinks. I asked them if the tip we left at the ordering went to them, and they said no. So when we were about to leave, I gave them some cash and told them it was for them. I was disappointed to watch them walk to the front and put my cash in the tip jar… so the tipping culture at this place was confusing. On to the food- it was delicious. It took about 15 minutes for it to come out. I ordered the chopped pork BBQ sandwich meal, which comes with one side and some hushpuppies. I chose the mac n’ hoop cheese for my side, and I also got an extra side of french fries because I was feeling hungry. The food was really good, and the sauce I got was good too. My boyfriend got fried okra, and I had some pieces. It was great, and not slimy at all, which some can be. Overall, we had a really nice experience.

Great food and service. Arrived mid afternoon on Sunday, so it was a bit slow at the time for customers. Found the meats smoked well. Brisket slices were a bit dry. Ribs and pulled pork really tasty. Really liked the sides and hush puppies as well. Different opinions on the sauces. Would recommend having sauces readily available at the tables instead of having to ask for them.
