Sunset Grill

My recent visit will be my last. As Brooklin resident for 20 years, it's been a local place we frequented, as it was one of the few places that served breakfast over the years. Our family absolutely tries to support local first. This place was great and perfectly fine, until the last several years, at least from my experiences. The food is still the same (nothing wrong with it), but something has happened to the service level, from dine in and especially take out. I keep trying as I'm typically loyal, but if I don't say something, nothing will be learned. From my most recent experience last Sunday morning June 26, when I picked up my take out order, I was ignored as I stood there waiting for acknowledgement. There was no greeting...just, "you're here to pick up an order? Ok wait". It's busy I get it, but it's busy because we're doing you a favor by supporting your business. That experience has been fairly consistent over the past couple years, where I question why I even choose to spend my money here. You guys will continue to do well regardless of my experience as traffic at this plaza is high volume, but my visit last week will be my last. I appreciate you reading this far, as it was rambling, but I finally had to say it.

I have been here many times. Breakfast is usually good except they can't poach an egg to save their lives. This time i ordered they advertised as back on the menu by popular demand! Crab Cakes. yum, one of my favs.... The two 'crab pucks' i got were disgusting. Like a frozen hash brown. definitely not fresh plus a greasy taste. Hollandaise sauce no flavor. My daughter ordered 3 poached eggs medium. She got on super runny, one medium and one bullet that seemed like it was poaching for an hour.

Super super average. Cardboard like home fries ... Bacon either limp and soggy or deep fried to a crisp. Not a garnish/veggie in site. Very overpriced for what it is. Also I do not understand why every breakfast has to revolve around three eggs... bizarre. Service just about OK. Didn't offer to remove disgusting item... just took it away... Bit clueless

This location is the best in Durham Region. I was in last week and our waitress, was incredible. She had glasses and a pony tail but we didn’t catch her name. She refilled our cups all morning and was a pleasure to be around, very positive and helpful! The food was great and the atmosphere was very clean. We will definitely be back!
