I worked there. It was OK. But you work hard for your money.
There were 2 managers there who caused undue stress. Claudia, who is very critical and blames things on people that didn't cause it. She also has said that I am doing something wrong, such as the steps in making a sandwich, when clearly the steps guide above the table shows I am doing it correctly.
-Critical of having the breakfast utensils and pans in just the right spot.
-She's poured gallons of oil down the drain because she didn't want to lug it to the recycling tank that Walmart uses.
-Likes to leave the hot water running and leaves the fridge/freezer doors open for minutes at a time.
-She doesn't build up, she tears down.
Talissa, the GM who used to work there, now working at Sifton.
-To her credit she does build up instead of tearing down, but ultimately her assumption that someone is against her and her anger problem backtracks that effort. There's been at least 1 'My Voice' customer survey that said that the woman behind the counter looked like she was angry.
Also I was one day taking someone's order and they said to themselves something like 'she looks like she's angry with the world'.
-For instance, on the last night I worked there, which was the last night the restaurant was open, I didn't realize we were running out of 'regular' buns and also 10:1 meat. I saw eventually when I removed some bread racks with the plastic that holds the buns still there, that I discovered were empty. But, I knew we were fine because we were slow, had plenty of big mac and quarter buns (both having seeds on top) to substitute in the cheap burgers.
The 10:1, not so much, we could have run out, though it ended up we wouldn't have.
Talissa got very upset that I was going against keeping the customers happy, that I don't take my job seriously, saying heatedly. What customer wouldn't mind a free bun upgrade? The buns and meat she brought in were all going to be thrown out by the next day anyway, so I was also trying to save the company money.
If you ever work at Mcdonald's, make sure your managers don't show their tough childhood at work. The stress they cause is not worth it.
Also the stress in picking out bad salad from the salad mix, and then the manager getting upset for trying to make a good salad that's not compost, not worth it!
