Villa Montez

Montez has some of the best Latin food I've had around Texas. The ambiance of the place is so unique, it's pretty much an old house. It really makes you feel at home. The service was great, recommended a lot of choices off the menu. Everything I had was delicious and if this was in DFW I'd go once a week.

First time here..off the beaten path. Arrived around 5:10 on a Saturday. Parking was easy and up front. Seated immediately, Service was amazing, Thank you Phillipe!! Carne Asada had amazing char grilled flavor,very tender. Buttery! Seafood enchies had ample fish and shrimp. Not over cooked..just right. Whatever that sauce is they put on it, they need to jar it and sell it! Only thing I would suggest to them would be to add some pico de Gallo to the entries. Pico adds freshness! Overall I give a 5 to this restaurant!

Fantastic place. Beautiful building. The spinach and artichoke dip with chips was a great appetizer. Add home made tortilla soup and you are in heaven. The dinners were exceptional. We had chickem enchiladas, fajita burrito and tequila lime chicken pasta. Outstanding. The atmosphere was great. The service was great. We had a great dining experience.

First of all, I am a HUGE Villa Montez fan. It one of my top favorite restaurants in Tyler however we did not have a great experience last time we went. We made a reservation for outside, they put us inside but another waiter was kind enough to make it happen. Lots of waiting around for drinks and food. They did not have any cabernet sauvignon bottles of wine besides the house wine which is odd because they are known to be wine lovers. The chef was grumpy when we made a food request. Food was lacking compared to what it's been in the past. Overall, the experience was quite disappointing but our waiter was awesome and did everything he could to make it better! We will definitely be back as this is one of our favorite restaurants and hope they make some changes. Also, nothing to do with the restaurant but do not park on the other side of the highway in the parking lot. We watched multiple cars being towed extremely quickly.
