First Drop Cafe

I posted a review earlier that came across a bit rude, so I apologise for that. Rewriting it to explain our experience. On Sunday morning, we arrived at First Drop and waited for a seat. Unfortunately we weren't given the spot we asked for, despite it being free... fairly strange to see. The soft seats on the ledge were fairly uncomfortable. The coffees unfortunately were not comparable to other highly rated cafes we've tried. My latte had way too much froth, while simultaneously tasting flat. The soy latte wasnt anything special. Did not expect this at all. The owner previously stated this might be due to them being short staffed. The panko sandwich was good and I did enjoy it. The combination of wasabi mayo with chilli worked great. Unfortunately the Haloomi sandwich meanwhile did not leave an impression. Other than this, the staff were attentive and nice.

Sometimes a first is also a last, and this was one of those times. We were attracted by the good reviews and the great photos, but sometimes they can deceive, or at least very much misalign with my own experiences. This wasn't good. This was probably one of the most disappointing lunches I had in a long time. Overcooked eggs, undercooked vegetables, absolutely not worth the money we paid for it, and such a disappointing experience. Real shame.

Quality coffee, served hot which is exactly how I like it. This is slowly becoming my everyday coffee stop when I'm in the office. I haven't yet tried much from the lunch menu, but I had one of the sandwiches the other day which was packed with lots of filling and flavour. I believe it was the Californian. Some of my work mates also had a sandwich and the amount of filling was consistent across everyone's. I definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area.

Have been coming to this gem for years and love it each time. Spacious seating with lots of pet friendly areas. Expansive menu with something to suit all, including a range of yummy cocktails. The owners are awesome and it’s so good to see things up and running again after what I’m sure has been a long two years.

BEST CAFE EVER!!!! If I could give it 10 stars I would 🫶🏻 Exceptional service, food, coffee and vibes - just an all round excellent experience and somewhere I will time and and time again return to. Can’t recommend the First Drop enough, their positivity and willingness to help with anything is always something that’ll leave you feeling fantastic after any brunch. You’ll find no better cafe in the area - First Drop is the ONLY stop! 😍
