El Charro

Stopped by because it was on the way back to my daughters dorm and wanted some Mexican food. Glad we stopped. We had great service and the Hawaiian burrito my daughter and I share was huge and they did not skimp on filling it. Queso is the thin white kind I enjoy the most. I will be back. Only downside...kinda bland salsa and slightly greasy chips. Nothing that will keep me from returning.

The food is good, but I always order Chili Relanos and they are always cold in the middle, a big disappointment. Also I order to go alot and when I get home w my food, side items like tortillas or tacos are missing. The salsa is pretty bland here, but it is most places. Smaller portion sizes and less garnishes than before it was closed for the 'remodel' a couple years ago. The place is always cold when I eat there, I bring a sweater. Someone posted that they don't have vegetarian options, but they do. I do love that they have booth type seating, creates a little privacy at least. I really miss the el charro on the north side. I ate at the new place there and didn't like it.

Great service, excellent food, and nice clean restaurant. Most certainly the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. I was in Springfield to tour a wedding venue and had promised my 8-year-old we could have Mexican food, and showed her what I found when searching Google. She chose El Charro based on the photos on Google and I'm so glad she did!
