Vito's Famous

IMO everyone has their special way they like their cheesesteak. Texans just won’t understand lol it’s not just a sandwich. Anyway, I was elated that Vito’s actually has peppers (the kind Italian sub shops on the E. Coast have, not banana peppers & not jalapeños) and the guy didn’t bat an eye when I asked for them to be chopped into my steak on the grill. This is official hoagie shop, I’ll definitely be back to try the pizza, and every time I’m feeling homesick after that. The only thing that didn’t seem like Philly was the customer service 😭😭 They are super nice and the shop is very clean.

Best pizza in town! We've been going here for years. Family-owned and from Philadelphia, Vito and sons make delicious pizza and authentic Philly cheese steaks. My family and I are from New York and Pennsylvania, so we missed the taste of real pizza when we moved to Houston. Thank goodness we found Vito's Famous! The cannolis are amazing too!

Oh man, as a Philly girl living in Texas, this place is a gem of a find! It's like walking into a hometown restaurant with all the sports decor on the walls and really hits the nostalgia hard. The only thing better is their food! Everything has been delicious and I've tried half the menu at this point! Owners are fantastic and always feel welcome and happy to chat while picking up your food.

Legit, best steaks in Houston. They got all the cheeses so you can pick what you want. They sweat the onions in the meat too. Not 100% sure if it’s an Amaroso roll, but damn close, I mean it. The Italian hoagie is the closest thing I could find in Houston, compared to what I would get back home. Used to go to Jimmy John’s for an Italian sandwich, because it would do in a pinch, but not anymore, comn’ here from now on. Loved the Italian sandwich, I went back twice just this weekend. The pizza… yeah man, it’s the real thing. You can smell it’s the right cheese/dough when you walk in. Thin crust, fold it, let the oil drop out the bottom. True east coast pizza. Luna’s is close, but Vito’s got it right. Do stop by if you gotta have a legit steak/hoagie or that thin crust pizza from back home.

I have dined here many times enjoying the Philly Cheese Steak, pizza and Cannolis. You order at the counter. Cashier was nice and answered a few questions that I had. I had to remember that my last "Philly, in Philly, cheese steak" experience was from more than 25 years ago. Today I ordered the large Philly Cheese Steak. Came to the table quickly, warm, cheese totally melted. Each bite was good and the melted cheese hit the spot. I personally would prefer twice as many onions and hot cherry peppers. And then add on some mushrooms. Usually my Philly Cheese Steaks have a nice grilling or steaming to the Italian rolls. Not here. Still, I was very full, leaving the last two bites on the tray. Let me point out that they a great Cannoli and a Chocolate Covered Cannoli. When on their website you have to navigate in and out of the menu selections, so don't get impatient.
