Philhouse

PhilHouse is a chain of Filipino restaurants from California. This walk up counter is inside the Island Pacific Supermarket on MLK. They have a pretty big selection of food that is all open for view in Panda Express style. The pricing for the items can be a bit confusing. They have 2 or 3 item options that come with rice, pancit, or a combination of both. Some items like liempo (grilled pork belly) have an extra cost. I recommend that you get the 2 item selection. The portions are HUGE. Even with just a 2 item selection, I had plenty left over for lunch the following day. The adobo is good, but a bit on the salty side as it sits in the sauce all day. The liempo is solid, but I suggest you skip the lechon kawali unless it's fresh. Ours was sitting there a while and was so dry and impossible to break apart from being under the heating lamp all day.

If you are looking for good Filipino food at a great price this is the place. It is tucked inside a grocery store so many people miss it. It has a local following in for under ten bucks you can get more food than most people can eat. It is served buffet style so it is extremely quick, the service is great and the people are very friendly.
