Terrible … I order chicken wings from many other Chinese restaurants and never had a problem. I decided to give this restaurant a try because it was closer to my house. 1st these are jumbo wings that looks more like turkey wings, or wings on steroids 2nd I asked for extra crispy… these are not extra crispy…. I called the restaurant and asked for a refund or at least something else on the menu and they would not accommodate me so never again….

I really wanted to try this place. I go in and it is very cramped, old, and dingy inside. I stood at the counter waiting to place an order, and nobody came to serve me. They were busy on the phone from what I could tell handling personal business and could careless about a customer which equates to money. I will not return.

Their chicken fried rice is the most bland rice I’ve ever had in my life. A saltine cracker has more flavor than their food. I would only recommend this place to my white friends who lack taste buds.

I’ve been ordering from China Star for years, across two different owners, and they are still the best Chinese takeout in Schenectady. I’ve also worked for them on and off for a couple years and can say they are some of the most decent business owners around. Simon is a true saint. As someone who has seen behind the scenes of how they work, I can assure you they work together like a real team and take even their most negative reviews very seriously. Their General Tso tofu is the best in town.

China Star has become my go to Chinese place, and I eat Chinese once a week pretty much. Hot, fresh food. Very flavorful. Tastes like it is freshly made, not from frozen. Prices are reasonable.
